Clooney's first recordings, in May 1946, were for Columbia Records. She sang with Tony Pastor's big band. Clooney continued working with the Pastor band until 1949, making her last recording with the band in May of that year and her first as a solo artist a month later, still for Columbia.
She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit Come On-a My House written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian (better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks), which was followed by other pop numbers such as "Botch-a-Me" (a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati), "Mambo Italiano", "Tenderly", "Half as Much", "Hey There" and "This Ole House", although she had success as a jazz vocalist. Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1977, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th anniversary in show business. She continued recording until her death in 2002. She was the aunt of Academy Award winning actor George Clooney; mother-in-law of singer Debby Boone; and sister to former television personality Nick Clooney. She was the ex-wife of Jose Ferrer; mother of actor Miguel Ferrer
Clooney was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of 2001. Around this time, she gave her last concert, in Hawaii, backed by the Honolulu Symphony Pops; her last song was "God Bless America".
Let It Snow
Rosemary Clooney Lyrics

But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow let it snow let it snow
Man it doesn't show signs of stopping
And I brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned was down low
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
And the fire is slowing dying
And my dear we're still good-byeing
But as long as you'd love me so
Let it snow let it snow and snow
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really grab me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
And the fire is slowing dying
And my dear we're still good-byeing
But as long as you'd love me so
Let it snow let it snow let it snow
Rosemary Clooney's "Let It Snow" is a holiday favorite that illustrates the excitement and joy of a winter love affair. The opening line "Oh, the weather outside is frightful" instantly sets the stage for the song, transporting the listener to a cold and snowy night. The fire adds warmth to the scene, creating a cozy environment for the two lovers. They have no place to go, so they spend their evening enjoying each other's company and the peacefulness of the snowstorm.
The second verse of the song reveals that the snow is not going to stop, and there's ample opportunity to pass the time together. The couple has dimmed the lights, creating a sense of intimacy, as they sit down to enjoy some freshly popped corn. The romantic mood is set, as the couple watches the snowfall outside.
As the song progresses, the couple prepares to say goodnight, but the storm outside makes it tough to bid farewell. The singer doesn't want to leave the warm embrace of their partner to venture out into the cold, but with a tight and loving grip, walking home sounds like a good idea. Though it seems like the night is ending, the future holds more opportunities for the couple to spend time together as long as their love perseveres.
Overall, "Let It Snow" is a delightful song that captures the happiness and contentment that comes with spending time with loved ones during the holiday season.
