Clooney's first recordings, in May 1946, were for Columbia Records. She sang with Tony Pastor's big band. Clooney continued working with the Pastor band until 1949, making her last recording with the band in May of that year and her first as a solo artist a month later, still for Columbia.
She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit Come On-a My House written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian (better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks), which was followed by other pop numbers such as "Botch-a-Me" (a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati), "Mambo Italiano", "Tenderly", "Half as Much", "Hey There" and "This Ole House", although she had success as a jazz vocalist. Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1977, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th anniversary in show business. She continued recording until her death in 2002. She was the aunt of Academy Award winning actor George Clooney; mother-in-law of singer Debby Boone; and sister to former television personality Nick Clooney. She was the ex-wife of Jose Ferrer; mother of actor Miguel Ferrer
Clooney was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of 2001. Around this time, she gave her last concert, in Hawaii, backed by the Honolulu Symphony Pops; her last song was "God Bless America".
Me and My Teddy Bear
Rosemary Clooney Lyrics

A little boy lives there
At Xmas time dear Santa Claus
Brought him a teddy bear
He loves his little teddy bear
He's with it all day long
And the sweetest thing I've ever heard
Me and my teddy bear
Have no worries, have no cares
Me and my teddy bear
Just play and play all day
I love my teddy bear
He has one eye and has no hair
But I love my teddy bear
We play and play all day
Every night he's with me
When I climb up the stairs
And by my bed he listens
Until I say my prayers
Oh, me and my teddy bear
Have no worries, have no cares
Me and my teddy bear
Just play and play all day
Every night he's with me
When I climb up the stairs
And by my bed he listens
Until I say my prayers
Oh, me and my teddy bear
Have no worries, have no cares
Me and my teddy bear
Just play and play all day
Just play and play all day
The song "Me and My Teddy Bear" by Rosemary Clooney is a sweet and simple tune that describes the relationship between a little boy and his beloved toy. The song starts by describing the little boy next door who received a teddy bear from Santa Claus during Christmas time. From then on, he spends his days playing with his teddy bear and singing a song about their friendship. The lyrics are filled with child-like innocence and joy, and reflect the positive emotional effects that a toy can have on a child's life.
The song is structured around the repetition of the chorus "Me and my teddy bear, have no worries, have no cares, just play and play all day". This phrase emphasizes the carefree nature of both the boy and his teddy bear as they spend their days playing and enjoying life together. The song also highlights the special bond between the boy and his teddy bear, as they share moments together every night before bed, and the teddy bear listens as the boy says his prayers.
The simplicity and purity of the lyrics make the song a popular choice for parents to sing to their children at bedtime. The song has become a classic and has been covered by many other artists over the years. It continues to resonate with audiences of all ages and reminds us of the joy of play and the comfort of a cherished toy.
