On January 2005 Spinefarm released "Exit"-album, which went immediately to the Finnish charts and stayed for three weeks. "Exit" also received praising reviews from different medias around the world and was claimed as one of the most important extreme releases of the year 2005. After the release of "Exit" Rotten Sound toured in Scandinavia, U.S. and went on a second headlining tour in Europe during January 2006.
Sami Latva joined Rotten Sound in February 2006 to replace long-time drummer, Kai Hahto. The band was expecting to go on a hiatus in 2006, but, thanks to Sami, could start to prepare for the next studio session immediately. They recorded eight new songs for "Consume to Contaminate"-MCD during April 2006. Lyrical content of "Consume to Contaminate" is handling again difficult issues on this globe with loads of cynisism and a touch of death.
Rotten Sound has made four full length albums, ten shorter releases, five European tours, two U.S.-tours, three scandinavian tours and is one of the leading bands in grind-core. Now "Consume to Contaminate" introduces the new heavy, aggressive and insane Rotten Sound: a band which is prepared to take destructive powers of grind-core a few big leaps ahead.
Sell Your Soul
Rotten Sound Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
For your social value
Losing inner self
Not needed to succeed
Urge to get filthy rich
With inhuman deeds
Taken from your dull life
That does not exist anymore
Sell your soul and die alone
Sell your soul and die alone
Gathering money for your safety
And to increase your assets
Giving no help
To the underprivileged
Joy was not gained
Only the hollow pain
Being afraid of losing
Your stolen wealth to the thieves
Sell your soul and die alone
Sell your soul and die alone
Sell your soul and die alone
Sell your soul and die alone
The lyrics to Rotten Sound's "Sell Your Soul" depict a bleak picture of greed and emptiness. The song suggests that the pursuit of material wealth and social status can lead to a loss of one's true self and a lonely death. The lines "Gaining more property for your social value/Losing inner self not needed to succeed" convey the message that people become so consumed with accumulating wealth and status that they lose sight of who they really are.
The song also highlights the darker aspects of the pursuit of wealth, emphasizing that true success cannot be earned through immoral or unethical means. The lines "Urge to get filthy rich/With inhuman deeds/Taken from your dull life/That does not exist anymore" imply that those who engage in unethical behavior in order to accumulate wealth are participating in something that is not reflective of their true selves.
Ultimately, the repeated refrain of "Sell your soul and die alone" drives home the point that those who are consumed by greed and materialism end up alone and empty, selling their soul for something that ultimately brings them no joy or fulfillment.
