Run to You
Roxette Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Baby, sometimes I feel like dyin'
Drivin' while I'm closin' my eyes
Movin' in and out of hidin'
Tryin' to catch some truth in my life
Watchin' your stars in your moonlight
Come tumblin' down from the sky
Take it now
I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna come to you
I wanna find you
In everything that I do
I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna count on you
I'm gonna follow
Baby, what else can I do?

Sunday mornin' my town is sleepin' (sleepin')
Lyin' all alone in my bed
There's not a sound, I can't help but listenin'
Wishin' I was somewhere else instead
But sometimes they're too hard to handle
Those voices inside my head
Listen now

I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna come to you
I wanna find you
In everything that I do (everything I do for you)
I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna count on you
I'm gonna follow
Baby, what else can I do?

Take a walk inside my dream, a church, a lonely road
All the people come and go and come and go
(All the people come and go and come and go)

I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna come to you
Ooh, do it now
I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna count on you
I'm gonna follow, ah ah

I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna come to you
I wanna find you
In everything that I do (everything that I do for you)
I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna count on you
I'm gonna follow
Baby, what else can I do?

I'm gonna run to you
I'm gonna come to you
Baby, what else can I do? (Everything that I do for you)
(I will run to you)
I'm gonna come to you
What else can I do?
I'm gonna run to you

I'm gonna come to you
Baby what else

Overall Meaning

"Run to You" by Roxette is a song that talks about the singer's struggle with loneliness and the search for truth and belonging in life. The singer begins by expressing her feelings of hopelessness and the urge to escape from life's harsh realities. She even contemplates death as a possible solution to her pain. However, she then shifts her focus to the possibility of finding truth and purpose in the presence of the person she loves. The singer finds comfort in the idea of running towards their loved one and counting on them to be there for her. She wants to find this person in everything she does, to rely on them completely, as the only way to survive.

In the second verse, the singer describes her experience of waking up alone on a Sunday morning, listening to the silence around her, wishing she were somewhere else instead. She admits to the voices inside her head, which are often too overwhelming to handle alone. The third verse is a metaphorical description of the singer's dream world. It depicts a church and a lonely road where people come and go, suggesting the ever-changing and temporary nature of life. The song's chorus then repeats the singer's intentions to run towards their loved one, to count on them and follow them wherever they go.

Overall, "Run to You" explores themes of loneliness, hopelessness, and the need for human connection. The song expresses both the pain of isolation and the healing power of an intimate relationship. It's a powerful anthem for those who seek love and belonging in their lives.

I was at the Roxette concert in my hometown of Memmingen on October 19, 1994. I saw Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle live in concert. Some of the footage for the Run to You video was shot in Memmingen. At that time, Marie said to us, everyone, we would record a video for our new song. very sad that she is no longer with us.

@IvanBilyanov

Oh man... if there ever was a perfect song, this is it. Sad we cannot listen to this amazing talent live anymore, but it was brilliant when we could. Thank you, Roxette.
