Roxy Music became a successful act in Europe and Australia during the 1970s. This success began with their self-titled debut studio album in 1972. The band pioneered more musically sophisticated elements of glam rock while significantly influencing early English punk music, and provided a model for many new wave acts while innovating elements of electronic composition. The group also conveyed their distinctive brand of visual and musical sophistication with their focus on glamorous fashions. Ferry and co-founding member Eno have had influential solo careers. Eno became one of the most significant British record producers of the late 20th century. Rolling Stone originally ranked Roxy Music No. 98 on their greatest artists list ("The Immortals – The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time"), but dropped the group from the list when they updated it in 2011.
Roxy Music's final studio album was Avalon (1982), which was certified Platinum in the United States. In 2005, the band began recording what would have become their ninth studio album—and their first album with Eno since 1973 (he wrote two songs for it and also played keyboards). However, Ferry eventually announced that the material from these sessions would instead be released as a Ferry solo studio album, with Eno playing on "a couple of tracks", and that he believed the group would never again produce a record as Roxy Music. The album was released in 2010 as the Ferry solo studio album Olympia. It featured contributions from Eno, Manzanera, and Mackay (amongst many other session players).
In 2011, Roxy Music played a series of 40th-anniversary shows, but went inactive as a performing entity following the concerts. In 2019, Roxy Music were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In 2022, Roxy Music reformed for a tour to mark the 50th anniversary of their debut studio album.

All I Want Is You
Roxy Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just the other day
That you're leaving me
We're through
Well if you knew
How it hurt me so
Then you'd change your mind
I'm sure
What's going on
I don't care
What's new
Don't want to know
About anything
Cause all I want
Is you
Going out with other girls
Was always such a bore
But since I fell in love with you
I need you more and more
Don't want to know
About one-night-stands
Cut-price souvenirs
All I want is
The real thing
And a night that lasts
For years.
If you ever change your mind
I've a certain cure
An old refrain, it lingers on
L'amour, toujours l'amour
Don't want to learn
About etiquette
From glossy magazines
Why should I try
To talk correct
Like they do
In another scenes
Say no more
About imagery
You're starting to confuse
Just make an offer
Of more romance
Of course I can't refuse
All I want is you
Oo oo I'm all cracked up on you.
The song "All I Want Is You" by Roxy Music is about a person who has just received news that their significant other is leaving them. The lyrics express the pain and heartbreak that the singer feels, as they try to convince their partner to stay. They tell them that if they truly knew how much they were hurting them, they would change their mind and stay. The singer is honestly not interested in hearing about any trends, gossip, or other things going on – they just want to be with their loved one.
The song then goes on to talk about how the singer has never been very interested in going out with lots of other people, but since they fell in love with their current partner, they can't get enough of them. They don't care about one-night stands or "cut-price souvenirs" – they want the real thing, and they want it to last for years. Even after the break-up, the singer offers a cure for their heartbreak: love. They don't care about etiquette or following the trends in other scenes – they just want to be with the one they love.
Overall, this song is about the deep, all-consuming nature of love and the pain of losing someone you care about deeply. The lyrics are emotional and heartfelt, and the tone of the song is both mournful and hopeful at the same time.
