Go! Go! Go!
Roy Orbison The Teen Kings Lyrics

Well you can't be my lovin' baby, you ain't got the style
I'm gonna get some real gone love
That'll drive a cool cat wild
I'm gonna move, rollin' right on down
Gonna get me a gal that'll go out on the town
Well you move on down the line
I'm gonna get me a gal that'll make some time
She can't be square, she can't be slow
'Cause when we start struttin', gotta go-go-go

Well I'm gonna show you ain't so hot
I'm gonna get what you ain't got
She'll be sweet, won't do me wrong
She'll be cool and twice as gone
You gotta roll, move it right on down
Gonna get me a gal that'll go out on the town
Well you move on down the line
I'm gonna get me a gal that'll make some time

She can't be square, she can't be slow
'Cause when we start struttin', gotta go-go-go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Roy Orbison and the Teen Kings' song "Go Go Go" speak to the desire for a partner who can keep up with the fast pace of a 'cool cat'. The lyrics suggest that the singer's current partner doesn't quite meet the mark and that he is in search of someone who is cooler, better, and will keep up with his pace of life. He wants to move on and find someone with style, someone who will make him look good and who will go out on the town with him.

The lyrics contain a sense of "cool" and "coolness" that permeated rock and roll culture at the time. One could argue that the song speaks to the desire for a partner who is not only physically attractive but also has a certain air of confidence and sophistication. The lyrics are a reflection of the cultural zeitgeist and the changing attitudes towards sexuality, relationships, and dating during that time period.

Overall, "Go Go Go" is a catchy, up-tempo song that perfectly captures the spirit of early rock and roll. Its catchy melody, driving rhythm, and memorable lyrics have ensured that it remains a popular song to this day.

I bought this Sun 45 rpm record in 1956. Roy vocal and hotshot lead guitar and the masterful rock'n'roll drumming of J.M. Van Eaton make this song driving and blisteringly hot!

grew up playing these songs....there were thousands of them....3 cord progression in e or a and one lead would fill in on all of them.  Love to go back and revisit these great songs.  You can see that there were thousands of original artists in almost every large town in America who did versions of rock a billy, although in those days we did not call it rock a billy but it was ROCK and ROLL!  It will live until the last stone is turned over on this earth. @billcunningham9256

it was called rock a billy pretty early though. Proof? Guy Mitchell single called Rock-A-Billy in 1957

i didn't like it but i remember it.. anyway Mitchell was more a regular pop singer than rock n roll..
this was less than a year after Roy's Ooby-Dooby (loved that one)
