Either You Want It

Crippled by jealousy, so you got up and walked
'Cause I'm not one for crawling
And I'm sick of waiting for you to feel ready to talk
'Cause you call the shots, say go and I'm gone
Just make up your mind and I'll get out the zone
Or you don't
So come and get it
Or leave me alone
Didn't ask to be rivals, caught up in your spiral
'Cause you came here to gloat
'Cause I'd rather be strangers
does not mean waiting for you at the end of the road
'Cause you call the shots, say go and I'm gone
Just make up your mind and I'll get out the zone
Either you want it
Or you don't
So come and get it
Or leave me alone
Either you want it
Or you don't
So come and get it
Or leave me alone
You call the shot, say go and I'm gone
Make up your mind, you make the call
So come and get it if that's what you want
But I think you're better alone
Either you want it
Or you don't
So come and get it
Or leave me alone
Either you want it
Or you don't
So come and get it
Or leave me alone
The lyrics of "Either You Want It" by Royal Blood delve into the complexity of a strained relationship where one party is crippled by jealousy, leading to a breakdown in communication. The singer expresses their frustration at the lack of meaningful dialogue, hinting at a sense of empowerment as they choose to stand up and walk away rather than crawl back into a situation that lacks mutual understanding. The refusal to wait indefinitely for the other person to open up shows a determination to assert their own worth and agency in the relationship.
The repetitive refrain of "Either you want it, Or you don't, So come and get it, Or leave me alone" serves as a direct plea for clarity and decisiveness from the other person. The singer desires a clear signal of whether the relationship is worth pursuing or if it's time to part ways. The lyrics convey a sense of longing for resolution and closure, as the uncertainty and emotional turmoil of being in limbo weigh heavily on both individuals involved.
The mention of not wanting to be rivals and feeling caught up in a negative spiral suggests a toxic dynamic that has developed between the two parties. Despite the desire to break free from this cycle and potentially start anew, the singer seems resigned to the fact that their paths may diverge in order to preserve their own well-being and inner peace. The idea that being strangers is preferable to being entangled in a destructive relationship points to a desire for independence and self-preservation.
The final lines of the song emphasize the importance of making a definitive choice and sticking to it. The singer challenges the other person to take ownership of their decisions and actions, urging them to either commit fully to the relationship or to let go entirely. The repeated refrain echoes the sentiment of ultimatum, emphasizing the need for honesty and clarity in a relationship that has reached a critical turning point. Ultimately, "Either You Want It" captures the internal conflict and yearning for resolution that can arise when faced with a tumultuous and uncertain romantic connection.
