Royal Blood Lyrics

Say that you don't love me (ay)
I'm guessing I'ma be okay
You say that you don't feel me now
I feel like I'ma live somehow
Your love never meant much to me
Love never mean much to me
Your love never meant much to me (RTJ)
(The God)

The God killer
This Tokyo and I'm Godzilla
Playing black jack versus death
Gun on the card dealer
Just bought a Demon, I'm screamin up out the car dealer
The last temptation of Mike but I'm a god figure
Tell Beelzebub that the god don't need a job
If I did the oligarchs would be missing, murdered and robbed
This is Bonaparte and he paying with Toussaint
And they went on a world conquest tearing your bone apart
Michael remained murderous
But still virtuous, wait to kill the petty and foul at the church services
Not a holy man but I'm moral in my perverseness
So I support the sex workers unionizing their services

You say that you don't love me (ay)
I'm guessing I'ma be okay
You say that you don't feel me now
I feel like like I'ma live somehow
Your love never meant much to me
Love never mean much to me
Your love never meant much to me
Your love never meant much

Born from the ether I just appeared out a cloud a reefer
Screamin' "Fuck the world" it can drink what's coming out my urethra
I'll slap a dying child, he don't pronounce my name correct
Rules have gotta be rules any exceptions and I'm not a leader
Think in the box I'm not getting my fix then shit is iffy
Felate a donut hole wife don't get to the crib and quickly
I'll watch my mouth when I'm finished watching y'all suck clout
Don't doubt you put an ounce of that evil on me I'm flippin', Ricky
I give a inch to you simps, I'll never forgive me
Not saying it's a conspiracy but you're all against me
You see a future where Run the Jewels ain't the shit
Cancel my Hitler-killing trip
Turn the time machine back around a century

You say that you don't love me (ay)
I'm guessing I'ma be okay
You say that you don't feel me now
I feel like like I'ma live somehow
Your love never meant much to me
Love never mean much to me
Your love never meant much to me
Your love never meant much
Much, much, much, much, much
Much, much, much, much, much
Much, much, much, much, much

Every child, woman and man
Opinion don't matter stick to your plan
If they judge, still don't budge
Don't give a inch, don't give a nudge
Life a bitch, leave you battered and bent
Lose or win, gotta hold up your chin
And I put it on Jamie and me

We just gave you inspiration for free
The money never meant much

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Royal Blood's song "The Ground Below" convey a sense of self-confidence and defiance in the face of love's absence. The first verse, delivered by Mike of Run the Jewels, presents a character who sees himself as a god-like figure, unfazed by the lack of love in his life. He rejects societal norms and expresses his willingness to challenge those in power. The reference to Bonaparte and Toussaint suggests a parallel between historical conquerors and his own ambitions for dominance.

The chorus repeats the sentiment that the singer is unaffected by the absence of love. It implies a sense of resilience and self-assurance, as though he is confident in his ability to carry on without it. The repetition of the phrase "Your love never meant much to me" emphasizes the singer's detached attitude towards love and relationships.

The second verse exemplifies a rebellious and provocative attitude. It uses shock value with lines like "Screamin' 'Fuck the world' it can drink what's coming out my urethra." The singer challenges societal rules and norms, believing that he is superior and entitled to particular treatment. He dismisses the importance of others' opinions, setting himself apart from society.

The final verse continues the theme of self-assurance and resilience. It encourages individuals to stay true to themselves and their plans, even in the face of judgement or adversity. The lyrics suggest that one should not compromise their values or beliefs for the sake of fitting in. The reference to Jamie and the inspiration they provide for free implies that their art and creativity hold more value than monetary gain.

In summary, "The Ground Below" by Royal Blood expresses a strong sense of self-confidence and defiance against societal expectations and the absence of love. The lyrics convey a desire for dominance and individuality, urging listeners to stay true to themselves and their beliefs.

I'll be honest, this song is not my favorite but this collab is beyond perfect. I want to have a whole Royal Jewels album. I think it would work incredibly well.

Eric Forsyth

@Mick Porter: Those bands aren't really more heavy than Royal Blood. Definitely not when compared to actually heavy shit. Good bands, though (as are RB).

SteelStringD20

@Mick Porter Hey, give Royal Blood a chance. A two-piece rock group with a bass guitar lead instrument? Yeah, its gonna be a little unique. Their newest album feels a little more pop than the last two albums, but Royal Blood can make any walk feel badass.

But if you can't get into them, I feel ya. Can't like everything, you know?

Dalton Henderson

I saw them in Richmond, VA a couple years ago. With Turbowolf as the opener. One of the best overall concerts I’ve been to

grayhouse

@Mick Porter I've seen them live before and they put on a pretty good show. It was cool to see 2 dudes making so much noise. Their song Out of the Black is pretty heavy, but otherwise they're kinda your average tough-boy DFA 1979 inspired rock band

Mick Porter

@illuminerdi listened to a bit of one thier songs, they sound like bubblegum rock male avril lavigne's. Not my cup of tea, I'm into SOAD, IDLES, nirvana more heavy stuff.

I just discovered Royal blood recently and I love this band. And just now I see that they play with my favorite rapper duo that's fucking incredible !

Chabui

Nice, I discovered Royal Blood through Need For Speed Payback so the first song I heard was Lights Out

ItzNiekoyo

If you haven’t heard Out of the Black yet, do it. IMO, one of the best songs ever created

Mike Alverson

@Berto I first heard Little Monster on the radio in 2014 when I was looking for a new bass riff, and couldn't get it out of my head. My daughter was learning percussion at the time, so their debut album was (and still is imo) a masterclass for me in how to build a song out of minimal instruments. Also, it fucking rocks. If you like metal and haven't heard of Royal Blood, you're missing out.

They've only gotten better since then somehow?! 🤯
