Kung Fu Lovin'
Royal Republic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You always get centerfolds
Even though you start getting old
People say that I'm wasting my time 'cuz you ain't no good to me
Well I guess we had the good ol' time
Somebodys gotta draw the line
Salinity letting you go
'Cuz you aint no good to me
Starting to understand
Little by little
This is getting out of hand
Kung fu lovin'
It's gonna tear us apart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
(To my heart)
You always played center staged
And you leave me in a? of rage
Now I know that I gotta get gone 'cuz you ain't no good to me
Everybody lets a little pain
But baby this is going down the drain
Salinity letting you go
'Cuz you aint no good to me
Stuck in the middle
Starting to understand
Little by little
This is getting out of hand
Kung fu lovin'
It's gonna tear us apart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
(To my heart)
Kung fu lovin'
It's gonna tear us apart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
Kung fu lovin'
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
You're a roundhouse kick to my heart
The lyrics of Royal Republic's "Kung Fu Lovin'" talk about a relationship that has turned sour but the singer is still struggling to let go. The song plays with the idea of a martial art form, kung fu, to describe the extreme nature of their love - it's like a roundhouse kick to the heart. Despite being warned by others that their partner is no good for them, the singer is still trying to hold on to the good old times. However, as the situation worsens, they start realizing that it's time to draw the line and let go. The chorus emphasizes how this kung fu lovin' is tearing them apart despite their strong love for each other.
Through the lyrics, Royal Republic showcases how the singer is struggling with their emotions, trying to balance their love for their partner with the realization that they are no longer good for them. The roundhouse kick metaphor is used again and again to stress how their love is causing pain and harm instead of happiness.
In conclusion, "Kung Fu Lovin'" by Royal Republic is a powerful song that captures the emotional struggles of a person who is still holding on to a toxic relationship. Through the use of martial arts imagery, the band stresses how love can cause pain and how difficult it can be to let go of someone we care for, despite the warning signs.
