Rubberneck Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You take but you can't give and there's no other way you can live
Always down on your knees
Like a disease

[Chorus]
More
I want more
Ain't got no reason
Just give me more
I want more

You comfort your own life
While the world will sacrifice
Taking more than you need
On your knees

[Chorus]

They take everything that you like
Once they get inside your life
They take everything that you need
You want respect and you get none
The world's better off when your life's done
All your filth and your greed

[Chorus: x2]

Overall Meaning

The song "More" by Rubberneck is about the concept of greed and how it can consume individuals. With lines like "You take but you can't give and there's no other way you can live," Rubberneck highlights the idea that individuals that are consumed with greed are only interested in their own well-being, without any concern for the well-being of others. The verses describe individuals being on their knees, always wanting more and taking more than they need. The chorus 'More, I want more, Ain't got no reason, Just give me more, I want more' reinforces the idea that they never have enough, always wanting more.

Rubberneck then highlights how those who are greedy only find comfort in their own lives, ignoring the sacrifice of the world around them. They go on to describe how those who are consumed with greed will ultimately be better off once their life is done because they have left a trail of filth and consumed far more than they ever needed. Through this song, Rubberneck prompts listeners to examine their own lives for signs of greed and encourages them to strive for a life of meaning and contribution to the world.

Andy crowns this thing the new king of Analog Delays and somewhere out there the Moogerfooger and Chase Bliss go, 'huh?' :)
Seriously for $250.00 this thing sounds great ad is almost as feature laiden as some of the truly nerdy analog delays that I love. Good job DOD, who even knew you were still in the game for this sort of thing.
And Andy, big ups on that little riff at the end where the synth sounding octave down just bounces back after each line. Very tasty.

Well said, thank you!

I picked up a Carcosa when it first came out, and have been looking at everything else DOD does since then, they've been doing nuts work on pedals lately.

Brandon McDougal I'm the same way since I got the looking glass.

I really like the gonkulator reissue. I get that it's a weird pedal, but honestly I think it's incredibly fun. Plus if you switch off the ring mod it's still a good basic distortion. I actually like it with a tiny amount of ring mod on the distortion it's just something different.

This is my new favorite delay, beating out the jhs panther which this does everything the panther does plus more. It sounds sooo nice. DOD says "don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years!"

Stellar playing as always, and MAN, do I ever want that pedal. I love the TC electronic delays, and the Strymon TimeLine is on my bucket list, but this thing is the bomb!

Matt Gilbert

The most underrated delay around. You won't see many for sale because they are just that good. People hang on to 'em.

Andy: you come up with some of the most simple, yet effective arrangements. Well done, sir👍

i think its super super important to mention that if you purchase this increadible pedal you will need to make sure that you power it sufficiently. i say this because a friend of mine (which couldnt possibly actually be me) didnt know that the pedal requires 150ml amp. this led to him believing on atleast 8 occasions that the pedal was broken or at the very least, not dependable. After some research and I...i mean my friend, learned this though a random trouble shooting search. it happen initially when using a daisey chain. Then i purchased its own seperate power supply. problem went away but i secretely didnt really know why it had ever occured. It was only after i purchased a proper board, ding bat with a voodoo power supply that i realized the 150ml am requiemnt. I had plugged it into one of the 100ml amp ports and it funcitoned poorly. knowing that the voodoo power supply was brand new it forced me to dig deeper. i realized the requirement,(which is in the dang manual by the way) and when i plugged it into one of the ports which supports a higher milliamp draw, wow, no "white noise" or "static" you hear people talking about and rock solid dependable performance. so dont delay, delay, delay..sorry
