Medicine
Run Run Run Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Honey, I hate my body
I hate the silence
That comes when you're not around

Honey, you can tell me
If I'm not talking any sense
Honey that's my last defence
Because your touch is medicine to me
Thank god I met you
Let's die old together
My mind is a cage to me
So thank god I met you
Let's die old together

Honey, I'm sorry
If I ever let you down
For every time I messed you around

Because your touch is medicine to me
Thank god I met you
Let's die old together
My mind is a cage to me
So thank god I met you
Let's die old together
Together
Together

So say what you need to say
The needle will find the vein
I want to be whole again
No? No?

So say what you need to say
Like a bullet to the brain

I want to be whole again
No? No?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Run Run Run's song "Medicine" describe the depth of the emotional and physical connection between two people. The singer of the song expresses her vulnerability and self-loathing, but she finds solace in the presence of her partner. She confesses that she hates her body and the silence that comes when he's not around, but his touch is like medicine that heals her. When she feels like she's not making sense, she trusts that he will understand her, and that his touch will be her last defense against her own insecurities.

Throughout the song, there is a strong sense of gratitude and commitment towards the partner. The singer thanks god that she met him and implies that he is the reason she wants to live a long life. However, the lyrics also suggest that the singer has hurt her partner in the past, and she's apologizing for it. Perhaps, she's the one who's been messing him around, but she hopes that his touch will heal her mistakes as well. Finally, the singer seems to ask for mercy, saying that she wants to be whole again and asking if they can make it happen together.

Overall, the lyrics of "Medicine" portray a complex relationship that has both dark moments and bright ones. The singer is grateful for her partner's presence and healing touch, but at the same time, she's willing to acknowledge her own flaws and vulnerability. The song is a reminder that even in the toughest moments, we can find hope in the people we love and trust.

I loved this movie. It was so tense and when she left the theatre and was finally in open air it felt like I could breathe- the movie being shot mostly indoors is probably no coincidence- it’s a genius way to create a sense of tension and claustrophobia

xsd

when th ild lady took forever to tell her the name of the pill i was breathing heavily and i was having a panick attack 😀😀😀

James Jameson

You picked this up from some film studies class, way to go 🙄

Melanie Finley

@James Jameson why the attitude?

James Jameson

@Melanie Finley I dunno, the poster was passing off something he'd picked up in a film studies class as their own observation, I found it a little disingenuous
