Crossroads
Ruu Campbell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Crossroads, [?] my friend
Tell me where the road ends
How come from somewhere?
I'll know when I get there

Preacher, we'll meet again
When this ends I run
And your preaching's done
And your preaching's done

Now my brothers, under the sun
Can you tell me where we come from?
And how when I move to where
I can still be there

One day I'll move my light
Through tunnels bright
And came ashore
Into a land [?] types

Nobody there
Just my light
And I was too aware
That I was there

Now my brothers, under the sun
Can you tell me where we come from?
And how when I move to where
I can still be there

Some say we hit a rough
Into a [?] made of
Freedom to make our mistakes
Into a fight won't be misplaced

Now my brothers, under the sun
Can you tell me where we come from?

And how when I move to where
I can still be there

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ruu Campbell's "Crossroads" are reflective and contemplative, questioning the nature of existence and the meaning of life. The opening lines set the stage for the song's exploration, as the singer addresses the titular crossroads, asking where the road ends and how one can know when they've arrived at their destination. The second verse introduces a preacher figure, who will apparently no longer be necessary once the singer has reached his destination, indicating that perhaps this journey is a spiritual one.

The song's lyrics continue to ask big questions, including where we come from and how we can maintain our sense of self when we move to new places. The final verse seems to suggest that life itself is a kind of rough sea or fight, where mistakes will be made but ultimately victory is possible. Throughout the song, the singer's voice is plaintive and searching, emphasizing the sense of longing and uncertainty that pervades the lyrics.

Overall, "Crossroads" is a deeply introspective and philosophical song, exploring themes of faith, identity, and purpose. It invites the listener to join the singer on a journey of discovery and self-discovery, asking them to confront some of life's most difficult questions.

I can still be there

Always, when I listen to this song, I feel like it penetrates my bones and settles in the middle of my heart
Now I realized for four years that I had heard this song leave something deep inside me
And this deep thing still exists
I usually share my favorite songs with others, but this song was not able to share it. I feel like it is my property and nobody should hear it.
