When the things get so far from alright, where do I go?
I gotta find my way home, I just don't know
Can't find, can't find the peace of mind, so I take a ride, back to a simpler time
[Chorus]
When I'm walking on my own down memory lane,
Trying to find the things that fade away,
Remembering like it was yesterday
I want to drive away back to the days when I wasn't even,
In the race, a thousand miles from the way I'm living in,
Better days, they're waiting for me at home,
I guess I just know
Can't find, can't find the peace of mind, so I take a ride, back to a simpler time
[Chorus]
I own it, I just gotta, just gotta let myself go
I don't know where I'm gonna go,
I just gotta, just gotta let myself let myself go
Walkin' on my own
[Chorus]
The lyrics of Ryan Malcolm's song "Memory Lane" are an expression of the singer's search for peace of mind and a simpler, happier time. He feels lost and unable to let go of his troubles but seeks comfort in revisiting his memories. He is looking for a way back home, where he hopes to find a sense of belonging and a return to better days. The chorus uses the metaphor of walking down memory lane to convey the idea of revisiting the past to find solace for the present. The singer wishes to escape the pressures of the race he feels he is in, to return to a time when life was easier and more innocent. He acknowledges that he needs to let himself go and walk on his own to find his way back home, where better days are waiting for him.
