This really helps you appreciate the work put into these simplistic sounding MIDI tracks from old games. They sound basic but they were still composing music when they made it.

Thanks guy

Acrouzet I wanted to ask you a thing: The PSX (PS1) has 24 channels with CD quality audio (still, with some type of compression). So, would be possible to make an oscilloscope view of "Heavy Machinery" from Crash Bandicoot? There are some programs around there to compose music for the ps1, but I don't know if they also play original music separating channels.
@acrouzet
I think most PSX music is either streamed, or is sequenced like a MIDI, so I don’t think I can separate channels.
@vuurniacsquarewave5091
@@acrouzet It depends really. VGMTrans is a great program that lets you rip a MIDI and a sound bank from .psf files. So any PS1 music that uses a common sequenced format and doesn't stream audio can work. I have made several NES Crash covers by ripping the MIDI and some of the samples.

Interestingly the pulse channels are not used for the main melody, and it’s instead the noise channel.
@SparkyMK3
Actually it's the Wavetable that's used for the melody, but the Noise channel provides some backing percussion.
@somedubmetakeshi7960
@@SparkyMK3 Thanks for the info. I didn't know that, actually really interesting.
