S.o.M. spaja kontraste - izvorne melodije starih narodnih pjesama stavljaju u doom aranžmane (ekstremna grana teškog metala specifična po sporom ritmu i tamnoj atmosferi), naglašavajući dramatičnost pjesama mističnim ambijentom i velikim dinamičkim oscilacijama. No, tu tamnu atmosferu i grubo pjevanje razbija čisti ženski vokal koji simbolizira svjetlost u mraku, vodilju koja šalje nedvojbenu poruku da uvijek postoji nada i cilj ka kojemu treba krenuti.
Grupa želi mlađim generacijama koje vole heavy-metal, prenijeti poštovanje prema kulturnom nasljeđu naših starih, a starijim generacijama poruku da glazba koja je žestoka i crna po izričaju ne mora nužno biti destruktivna po sadržaju, kako se to prečesto prikazuje.
Temelj stvaralaštva čine vokalne dionice tradicionalnih napjeva hrvatskih krajeva, u početku pretežito Međimurja, no političke granice nemaju nikakvu vrijednost u stvaranju, pa se tako nastoji provući i ideja multikulturalnosti miješanjem različitih stilova u istoj pjesmi.
S.o.M. svira funeral-doom, death-doom, gothic, stoner i/ili neku mješavinu svih tih stilova. Etno glazba ima izuzetan utjecaj, pa je veći broj pjesama nastao ili kao aranžman postojećih narodnih pjesama ili pod utjecajem ritmova i "rifova" iz takve vrste glazbe. Trenutno je grupa usredotočena na glazbu iz Međimurja, ali zemljopisna i politična ograničenja ne postoje i koristit će se svaka vrsta glazbe koja se može "pretočiti" u doom izričaj.
Bend pjeva na hrvatskom - članovi su mišljenja da postoji dovoljan broj grupa koje pjevaju na engleskom i da svijetu ne mogu dati ništa novo ili bolje na tom području.
Nijedan instrument ili osoba u grupi se ne smatra"vodećim". Postoje gitarske solo dionice, ali one bi trebale činiti integralni dio pjesme i služiti razbijanju pjesme na više dijelova, a ne isticanju gitarskog umijeća, a osim toga često vjerno prate vokalnu melodiju ili su inspirirane narodnim melosom.
S.o.M. je jedan od nevelikog broja "etno-doom" bendova u svijetu, a usuđujemo se reći da su jedna od malobrojnih doom-grupa u Hrvatskoj, te vjerojatno jedini etno-doom metalci u Hrvatskoj.
Zvuk kojemu grupa teži je zvuk tutnjajućih, razarajućih potresa s dva-tri popratna tsunamija. To zlo koje stvaraju instrumenti i death-growl trebalo bi biti "razbijeno" nježnim ženskim vokalom, koji kontrast treba dočarati sliku našeg fizičkog svijeta temeljenog na suprotnostima. Izvorna ideja o bendu uključuje i sintisajzer koji bi pojačali atmosferičnost ali i dali tračak nade u zlu.
Sljedeće grupe su imale ogroman utjecaj na stil i zvuk benda: Cathedral, Corrupted, Yob, Esoteric, neizbježni Black Sabbath i sl.

S.o.M. started its work in 2005 as a one-man-band home recording project with the intention to cover songs from Medjimurje, the northern part of Croatia in a completely new way.
The band combines contrasts - putting traditional folk songs in doom environment (extreme branch of heavy metal, known by slow rhythm and dark atmosphere), emphasizing the dramatics with huge dynamic oscillations. That mystical atmosphere and rough singing is contrasted with a pure female vocal symbolizing a candle in the dark, a message that there is always hope and a goal worth pursuing.
S.o.M. wishes to transmit cultural heritage to younger generations who love heavy metal, also to send out a message to older generations that music which is hard and heavy in expression does not have to be destructive in substance.
Nowadays, the basics of their creativity underlies in vocal parts of traditional folk songs from Croatia (mostly from Medjimurje), but political borders have no meaning in artistic work, so they try to pass on the idea of multiculturalism by mixing different styles in the same song.
Band plays some style mixture between funeral-doom, death-doom, gothic, stoner, whatever. Ethno music has massive influence on authoring and a number of songs is created directly after an existing folk songs adding doom style riffs to vocal melodies. In other cases, ethno-style is used in riffs, solos or vocal parts. Major influence came from Medjimurje, a northern region of Croatia, but band is not geographically limited and will use any kind of world music that is transferable to doom style.
S.o.M. sings in Croatian. They believe there is fair enough english-singing bands in a world and they can not give anything new in that part.
No instrument or person could and should be called a "leading" one in band. There are some songs with guitar solos, but solos are melodic and slow and planned to serve only as an integral part of a song, not as a solo exhibition, and they often follow vocal melody or are inspired with traditional parts.
We believe it could be said that "S.o.M." is one of few ethno-doom bands in world, and very likely the first one in Croatia.
The sound they seek for should be a brutal, thundering earthquake followed by a tsunami or two. This evil should be broken with nice, gentle female voice. That should depict our physical world which is based on contrasts. The original idea of the band imagines a keyboard/sampler and another female singer that should create a creepy and horror atmosphere, but still with some hope in it.
The following bands had massive influence to their music and style: Cathedral, Corrupted, Yob, Esoteric, inevitable Black Sabbath etc.
