SCALLER Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What do you want?
We keep faking it
We keep faking it
What do you want?
What do you want?
We’re getting older anyway
We’re getting older anyway
What do you want?
What do you want?
We’re tired of being down
We’re tired of being down
We’re getting older anyway
We’re getting older anyway
What do you want?
What do you want?
What do you want?
What do you want?
In these lyrics, SCALLER's song "What Do You Want" presents a series of short questions that reflect the singer's frustration and confusion about someone's ambiguous desires. The repetition of these questions signifies the repetitiveness and lack of clarity in the relationship or situation being addressed.
The line "We keep faking it" suggests that both parties involved are pretending or putting on a facade, perhaps to uphold societal expectations or to avoid facing the truth. This could imply a sense of dishonesty or insincerity in the relationship, as they are not being authentic with each other.
As the questions are repeated, the repetition conveys a growing sense of weariness and resignation. The line "We're getting older anyway" indicates that time is passing, and the singer is questioning the purpose of continuing in this state of confusion and disillusionment. The repeated question "What do you want?" could be seen as a plea for the other person to be honest and clear about their desires, as they are tired of guessing and pretending.
The phrase "We're tired of being down" suggests that the relationship or situation is emotionally draining and has caused a sense of sadness or dissatisfaction. The repetition of "We're getting older anyway" further emphasizes the passage of time, and perhaps a realization that they should not waste any more time on something that doesn't bring them fulfillment.
Overall, these lyrics convey a sense of frustration, weariness, and the need for clarification in a relationship or situation where both parties feel emotionally drained and uncertain about each other's intentions. The questions serve as a plea for honesty and clarity, as the singer desires a genuine connection and a meaningful resolution.
