A native of Reading, England, Lewis first became interested in music in his teens and played in several bands before he started experimenting with remixing tracks. Influenced by the introspective pop of Bon Iver and James Blake, as well as the club-ready hip-hop of artists like Common, Timbaland, and the Neptunes, Lewis began posting his own evocative, moody tracks online. He quickly built a loyal following, and eventually nabbed a residency DJ'ing at London's Chibuku Club.
In 2014, his remix of Jessie Ware's song "You & I (Forever)" caught the attention of Ware's label, PMR Records, who then signed him. A year later, he released his debut EP, Shivers. In 2016, Lewis delivered his sophomore EP, Yours, which included the track "Holding Back," featuring Gallant. Lewis' 2017 output consisted of the Toulouse-aided single "Times We Had" and the solo track "Smart Aleck Kill." He returned in January 2018 with "Aura," a bright yet low-key track featuring vocalist J Warner. The song appeared on the disco-influenced Dusk, which kicked off a trilogy of club-centric EPs slated to appear under the combined full-length album title of Dusk, Dark, Dawn. Meanwhile, he continued releasing singles including 2019's "Blue" and the Clairo collaboration "Throwaway." ~ Matt Collar

And I'll be here waiting, yeah
Baby, show me all that I can do
I could be the one to guide you through
Baby, take my hand and I'll show you the way
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
And I'm falling so hard for you (falling so hard for you)
Would you be there to catch me, too? (Falling so hard for you)
And I'm falling so hard for you
Would you be there to catch me, too? Me, too?
Baby, take my hand and I'll show you the way
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
Baby, take my hand and I'll show you the way (show the way)
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay (it's okay)
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
Baby, take my hand and I'll show you the way (show the way)
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay (it's okay)
I don't wanna be something you can throw away (throw away)
Baby, take my hand and I'll show you the way
Bring you a little closer, tell you it's okay
I don't wanna be something you can throw away
The lyrics in SG Lewis's song Throwaway seem to be a plea from the singer to his lover. He declares how much he cares for and loves them, asking them to let him show them all that they can achieve together. He pledges to guide them through any situation that life may present, providing a stable and safe space that they can both share. The chorus reiterates this sentiment, with the singer pleading with his lover not to dispose of him like a trivial object. Instead, he implores them to trust in him and allow him to accompany them on their journey through life, regardless of the ups and downs that it may hold.
The lyrics suggest a deep sense of commitment and devotion on the part of the singer. He is aware of his deep feelings for his partner and is vulnerable to the possibility that they may not feel the same way. The poignant nature of the lyrics creates an atmosphere of uncertainty, with the audience questioning whether the singer's partner will reciprocate his love or simply disregard him as another disposable presence in their life.
Overall, the lyrics to SG Lewis's song Throwaway communicate the idea of the singer's willingness to commit fully and unconditionally to his partner while also providing a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty that speaks to the complexities of love and deep human relationships.
