Necronomicon
Sacrifice Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Bound by human flesh recite the book of the dead
Necronomicon
Black forces open the grave death is now my killing slave
Rising souls of the damned hide in the pentagram
Follow through the trees possessed souls lurk to kill
Raped you lie by the forces of hell released to die
I am the necromancer the dead eat your mind and soul
Maggots fill your eyes black magic takes your life
Necronomicon
To the gates of hell I return hades fires once again burn
Coven rejoices rites are read back to hell return the evil dead
The lyrics to Sacrifice's song "Necronomicon" depict a dark and sinister ritual, led by the singer who identifies themselves as the necromancer. The ritual involves the use of the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire featured in the works of horror author H.P. Lovecraft, which is believed to contain knowledge and spells for invoking otherworldly beings and raising the dead. Throughout the song, the singer describes various steps of the ritual, such as igniting candles and reciting the book of the dead, while invoking black forces and rising souls of the damned. The ritual seems to involve a sacrifice, as the singer speaks of being "bound by human flesh," and of killing and raping their victim. Throughout the song, the singer appears to revel in their power and dominance, asserting that "the dead eat your mind and soul" and that "black magic" will take the victim's life.
The lyrics of "Necronomicon" are highly stylized and melodramatic, drawing heavily from horror and occult imagery. At the same time, they reflect a broader cultural fascination with the supernatural and the transgressive. The song's themes of death, power, and dark magic may resonate with listeners who are drawn to the darker side of metal and other extreme music genres, while the intricate and intense instrumentation will appeal to fans of technical thrash.
