The band name was suggested by a friend of the band named Rick Rogers back in 1985. It was originally taken from the novel Dune where Sadus are judges. The Fremen title refers to holy judges, equivalent to saints. However, as stated by bassist Steve DiGiorgio: "He (Rogers) liked the sound of it and he said he could make it into a cool logo. So we chose it [...] it's not supposed to have a meaning as we don't stand for anything."
The group split up in 2015, but reformed 2 years later without DiGiorgio.

Not seeing through the self-accusing lies
Are hordes of wormly cowards
Who hesitate and fail to bring their dreams to life
Oppression
Quickening
Aspirations
Left unseen
Becoming socially secured
Life's manipulation
Age endures
Accepting circumstances
Resentment uncontained
Quality of existence
Capitalistic gains
Can't you see
Your destiny?
Living free
Doing what you feel and think is real
Or do you just fail to see?
BLIND
Can't see through your own mind
Cast yourself to live this lie
Blackening out natural dignity
Forcing in abnormal functioning
Losing desire your will to leave
This life you built so easily
It's time...
To live
Rise
Ascend from below to blaze a trail through life
Follow your lead and succeed your destiny
Arise
Alive
Strive to live and live to please your mind
The opening lines of Sadus's song "Arise" portrays a dark and dismal image of a society that is feeding on rottenness while being blind to their own destructive actions. The following lines speak of a group of people who are too afraid to pursue their dreams and are trapped in mundane occupations caused by societal and commercial pressures. The oppression they face is worsening due to their lack of aspiration to break free from the system. The song draws attention to the fact that people willingly accept their circumstances and rarely challenge them, leading to a life of manipulation and the acceptance of capitalistic gains over the quality of existence. So many people are consumed by capitalism that they are unable to see clearly and grasp their destiny; they refuse to live free and instead opt for the security of what society deems acceptable, preventing them from achieving a meaningful life. The phrase "BLIND" seemingly serves as a reminder of what the song aims to project.
Furthermore, the lyrics suggest that people ignore their innate desire to live life on their terms by alienating themselves from their natural dignity and failing in their pursuit of well-being. They resort to abnormal functioning and eventually lose their will to leave life they have built for themselves so easily. The chorus advocates a message of hope and liberation from the constraints of society, suggesting that one must rise and blaze a trail through life, follow their instincts and desires, and triumph over the chains that have held them down. The song encourages listeners to attain their aspirations by stepping out of their comfort zone and discovering their true purpose, rather than merely accepting their fate.
