Here's my story:
Maybe Boruto is Hidan's dream. After defeated by Shikamaru, he must be thirsty for revenge. Also, the logic of showing his dream maybe is that Madara somehow came to know that Hidan is an Akatsuki and plans him for being his heir and decides to make him free from Infinite Tsukoyomi and then trains him somewhere else where Hidan is safe from Ten Tails tree. Also Madara is not immortal while Hidan is, that's why he planned it.
Now, after some years Hidan is still trained by Madara but at that time two Otsutsuki's come to earth to get the fruit from Ten Tails tree. They realise that Madara is very skilled and is strong enough to take them down all by himself after fighting him a little. Also, they may have some technique that prevents them from being in Infinite Tsukoyomi. During that small fight between Madara and two Otsutsuki, Madara gets suspicious about them. He then tries to get the information from somewhere and to do this he makes Hidan in-charge of keeping everyone in Infinite Tsukoyomi. Madara then goes to some planets destroyed by Otsutsuki's due to Infinite Tsukoyomi. At that place, he also realises that Ten Tails tree will drain every bit of chakra from the people at ultimately, they will not be alive anymore. Since Madara's plan was always to bring peace to world through own way but he had no intention of killing everyone. That's why he decides to undone Infinite Tsukoyomi. When he was heading towards his planet, he gets attacked by some Otsutsuki's but he somehow managed to escale from there. Worrying that Otsutsuki's might have defeated Hidan, he starts to go at his fastest possible speed. When Madara reaches his planet, Hidan and reincarnated Hokages were fighting an Otsutsuki but they were giving him good fight. Also Madara was weak because he already fought Otsutsuki's on his way back to Earth. Madara's fear was enough to make that Otsutsuki run for his life. Also, Madara was getting powerful day by day that he was threat to Otsutsuki's and that Otsutsuki who was fighting Hidan warned Madara before leaving that all Otsutsuki's will come and take him down. After that, Madara first undone the Infinite Tsukoyomi. He tells everyone that he has realised that his way of peace was wrong and tells everyone about Otsutsuki's and what they can do. At that moment, no one really trusted him but Hashirama supported him and everyone beleived it. At that moment, whole shinobi world started tp trainfpr the last fight. Also, Madara had promised that he will bring everyone who died in 4th Great Ninja War but since his presence was necessary to fight Otsutsuki's, he stayed alive and said he will bring them to life after that last war. From that moment, Hashirama and Madara started training Naruto and Sasuke together. Itachi and many great warriors were reincarnated by Orochimaru and were told about Otsutsuki. Everyone had been training since 3 weeks and then whole clan of Otsutsuki showed up.
Now, take popcorn and get ready to witness the greatest war of Shinobi World vs Otsutsuki clan.
