Read Full Bio ↴Saint Sister is an electronic folk or 'atmosfolk' duo from Ireland.
Formed in November 2014, this new project from Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty draws from early Celtic harp traditions, 60s folk and electronic pop to create โatmosfolk'โa mix of soulful vocal harmonies, dreamy synth and electro-acoustic harp.
Following their debut performance on Irish television, they opened for Arcade Fireโs Will Butler in Whelanโs. April saw them support San Fermin (Downtown records), and tour Ireland with Dublin band Spies. In August, the band entered the studio for the first time to record their debut EP with Alex Ryan (bassist with Hozier), which is scheduled for release on Trout Records November 13th, 2015. Over the coming months they will commence an Irish tour with Wyvern Lingo and O Emperor. They finish 2015 with their first London showcase with promoter Parallel Lines.

Itโs like we learned it in advance
And just like that the karaoke's over
Lights come on we're standing on the sofa
I wish that I could call you when I'm sober
Somewhere in between
It was always gonna be Sex Bomb - Tom Jones
And just like that the karaoke's over
Lights come on we're standing on the sofa
I wish that I could call you when I'm sober
And just like that the karaoke's over
Lights come on we're standing on the sofa
I wish that I could call you when I'm sober
And just like that the karaoke's over
Lights come on we're standing on the sofa
I wish that I could call you when I'm sober
In "Karaoke Song" by Saint Sister, the lyrics depict a bittersweet moment of nostalgia and longing. The song revolves around a relationship that has come to an end, as indicated by the desire to call the other person when sober. The opening lines, "We both know the dance, itโs like we learned it in advance," suggest that the couple shared a familiar rhythm or pattern in their relationship, but were unable to make it work.
The lyrics "Somewhere in between, I guess I should have known, It was always gonna be Sex Bomb - Tom Jones" convey a sense of resignation and self-awareness. There is a realization that their connection was ultimately superficial and lacking true substance. The reference to Tom Jones' hit song "Sex Bomb" implies that their relationship may have been based on passion and excitement rather than a deeper emotional bond.
The repetition of "And just like that the karaoke's over, lights come on we're standing on the sofa" highlights the fleeting nature of their time together. It suggests that their relationship was fun and vibrant while it lasted, but now the reality of their separation has set in. The desire to reach out to the other person when sober indicates that they miss the connection they had, but understand that it may not be healthy to continue in that state.
Overall, "Karaoke Song" explores the transient nature of relationships and the wistful longing for something that has passed. It captures the nostalgia and mixed emotions that often accompany the end of a romantic connection.

I want a vinyl LP. However, the cost of the LP shipped to me here in the USA, is almost the cost of the LP itself.
Do you have any US distribution for Where Should I End on vinyl?
