The original line-up consisted of Dave Chandler (guitar), Mark Adams (bass), Armando Acosta (drums) and Scott Reagers (vocals). They recorded their first two albums before Scott Weinrich replaced Reagers in 1986. The line-up of Chandler, Adams, Acosta and Weinrich is the longest-lasting. The third album Born Too Late (1986) is generally acknowledged as their best release.[3]
After breaking up in 1996 and briefly reforming in 2003, Saint Vitus reunited again in 2008 with the band's "classic" line-up, featuring Weinrich, Chandler, Adams and Acosta, and embarked on a successful tour. However, after 30 years in the band, Acosta left Saint Vitus in 2009 due to worsening health, and was replaced by Henry Vasquez. By 2016, both Weinrich and Adams had left Saint Vitus and were replaced by Reagers and Patrick Bruders respectively, leaving Chandler as the only constant member of the band and reuniting two-fourths of the original lineup.

Of your little mind
It's getting near my time
I begin to breathe
Flow through your veins
As the bloody rivers
I am growing stronger
If you think I'm nothng
You better think again
You will never win
Once you get me started
When you're all alone
You'll feel me inside you
Common sense will leave
Then you're mine to own
I'm part of you
I know you do
Feel me
Feel me
You shake everyday
And it gives me pleasure
Now you're sweating ice
To watch your world decay
As you split your seams
And your nerves are shot
You cannot face the world
All control is lost
The lyrics of "Fear" by Saint Vitus almost read like a conversation with a inner darkness, a voice that seems to be coming from within the listener's own mind. The song captures the feeling of creeping anxiety and the loss of control in the face of an uncontrollable and all-consuming fear. The opening lines set the scene in the "dark recesses of your little mind" suggesting that the fear is something that has been building up, lurking in the background for some time.
The imagery of blood is woven throughout the song, with the fear being portrayed as a "bloody river" flowing through the listener's veins, gaining strength and power as it grows. The chorus serves as a warning to the listener that they will never be the same again after confronting this fear - "you'll feel me inside you, common sense will leave, then you're mine to own". There is a sense of inevitability in the way the lyrics describe the fear taking hold of the listener, and the repeated refrain of "feel me" only serves to reinforce this idea.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become increasingly visceral, with the fear causing physical symptoms such as shaking and sweating. The final lines describe the listener's nerves being shot and their control being lost completely, leaving them unable to face the outside world. The use of second-person pronouns throughout the song help to create a sense of intimacy and directness, as if the voice of fear is speaking directly to the listener.

@mikeynoclass8240
He had that kind of lazy, behind the beat style that you either have or you don't. He was a natural and a huge part of the Vitus sound.
@HOLYPARISHOFDOOM
Dude was smooth... check out all the difficult fast playing he does in White Stallions and Hallow's Victim!

You know what, I've heard & read a lot of 'critics' complain about certain bands/albums/songs etc, effectively telling ME (& YOU) what to think/listen to/buy/watch etc. Over the years, I've come to realise that 'critics' have only ONE thing to contribute to 'music' - THEIR opinions (& - as I was once told by a lovely old geezer 'Opinions are like a***holes : everybody's got one'). Those that can, play : those that can't, criticise. Paraphrasing Dave Chandler himself : 'If you think you've got a good song, don't listen to anyone else, just play it'. I think this is one of the GREATEST St Vitus songs & I don't care who knows it. Thanks for posting.

Well said Mark! It's very easy to be a critic, creating something, anything is much harder.
