The original line-up consisted of Dave Chandler (guitar), Mark Adams (bass), Armando Acosta (drums) and Scott Reagers (vocals). They recorded their first two albums before Scott Weinrich replaced Reagers in 1986. The line-up of Chandler, Adams, Acosta and Weinrich is the longest-lasting. The third album Born Too Late (1986) is generally acknowledged as their best release.[3]
After breaking up in 1996 and briefly reforming in 2003, Saint Vitus reunited again in 2008 with the band's "classic" line-up, featuring Weinrich, Chandler, Adams and Acosta, and embarked on a successful tour. However, after 30 years in the band, Acosta left Saint Vitus in 2009 due to worsening health, and was replaced by Henry Vasquez. By 2016, both Weinrich and Adams had left Saint Vitus and were replaced by Reagers and Patrick Bruders respectively, leaving Chandler as the only constant member of the band and reuniting two-fourths of the original lineup.
I Bleed Black
Saint Vitus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I do it everyday
I live in a dark world
Where death is just an L.A. game
Feelings of caring
Are something I lack
Slice me wide
I bleed black
Nobody dares to care
I can tell by their eyes
They're just a bunch of fucking
Unaware squares
They can't tell just where I'm at
Slice me wide
I bleed black
They say I'm crazy
I should be locked away
But no bars can hold me
Still spread my decay
Hurt my bad side
Ill make you crack
Slice me wide
I bleed black
The lyrics of Saint Vitus's song, I Bleed Black, portray the struggles of a person who lives in a dark world where death is a common occurrence. The lyrics express the feelings of being disconnected and misunderstood in a world where no one seems to care. The opening line, "Open my veins, I do it every day," suggests a self-destructive behavior in response to the harsh reality of life.
From the lyrics, it is clear that the singer suffers from a lack of empathy and connection with others. The lyrics, "Feelings of caring are something I lack," indicate a lack of emotional depth that makes it challenging to communicate with others effectively. Even when people try to understand or help, the singer feels like they are misunderstood, as expressed in the lyrics, "No one comes close, nobody dares to care."
The lyrics also express a feeling of alienation and frustration with society. The lyrics, "They're just a bunch of fucking unaware squares," illustrate the singer's contempt for the people around them, who they feel cannot understand them. Despite the criticism and judgment from society, the singer remains steadfast in their self-destructive behavior, which they believe is the only way to cope with their struggles.

Doom is mood and atmosphere. you can keep your fast stuff. if you cant play a slow song convincingly, go back and learn about Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Pentagram and Trouble. If by then you still cant respect the power of the riff, you have no place in heavy music.
