Me, she a talk
Me, she a talk to
Me, she a talk to me
A talk to she

We must meet, she a talk
Me, she a talk to
Me, she a talk to me
A talk to she

We must meet, she a talk
Me, she a talk to
Me, she a talk
A talk to she

We must meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet, meet, meet, meet
Meet meet meet

Me-mee-me-me-meet

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly
Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly
Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly
Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly

Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally

She a talk to me
And me a talk to she
But the day is coming that we must meet personally-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly
Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly
Lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly-lly

Oh, when this day come
We will be together
Oh, when this day come
We will be together
Oh, when this day come
We will be together
Oh, when this day come
We will be together
Oh, when this day come
We will be together

Oh, when this day come
We will be together

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sam Gellaitry’s song “Long Distance” seem simple, but they express a longing for connection with someone who is far away. The song is repetitive, stressing the need to meet this person and emphasizing the gap between their conversations and their physical reality. What starts out as a statement of fact, that they talk to each other, becomes a request to meet- the day when they will be able to hold each other and be together. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase “lly-lly-lly-lly,” which creates a hypnotic almost trance-like feeling. The use of the phrase “meet” which is repeated 16 times, emphasizes the desperate desire for connection that the singer feels with the person he is talking about.
