Growing up in a musical family, Sam began singing in church at the age of five. By the time he was ten, Sam was already penning his own lyrics. Inspired by his sister who played the piano, he taught himself to play guitar, bass, piano, and drums. Sam was born a natural singer without any formal vocal coaching. His father, also a singer, is a big influence.
Sam draws his influences from such greats as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Eric Clapton, and Gavin DeGraw. He enjoys performing anything acoustic that has soul and is fond of rock, pop, soul, blues, jazz, and country music.
Sam has recently co-written with Jeff Scott Soto (former lead singer of the legendary rock band Journey, Talisman, Soul SirkUS, Yngwie Malmsteen). A few songs are to be released on Jeff’s new solo CD. This is what Jeff had to say about Sam: “Bro, you are the freshest new artist out there. I will be telling the world about you and if there is anything I can do to help you along, rest assured I will. People need to hear Sam Grow. You will be a superstar my friend!”
Sam has also performed with Grammy award winner Kanye West, Kat Parsons, one of the highest selling independent artists in the US, and national touring artist singer/songwriter/pianist Dave Yaden (Marc Broussard, Josh Kelley, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson).
Sam’s latest release “Ignition” is an infusion of Rock, Pop, and Soul that creates an enticing, new listening experience sure to satisfy the ear of a wide range audience. The first cut, “Oh So Jaded”, has become a crowd favorite. “Work in Progress”, Sam’s first CD release, is a five song EP full of Sam’s soulful, bluesy sound. The single “Meant to Be” was the featured track of the day on September 28, 2006 on GarageBand.com and the song peaked at 4.8 out of 5 stars.
This is just the start of Sam’s promising career and he has already started a buzz among the industry.
Shot of Crown
Sam Grow Lyrics

In Sam Grow's song "Shot of Crown," the lyrics depict a heartbroken narrator seeking solace in alcohol after a breakup. The singer starts off with a shot of Crown Royal whiskey, followed by a beer to chase it down, hoping that these drinks will help them forget about their lost love. They struggle to resist the memories and pain associated with the end of the relationship, but as the alcohol starts to take effect, they begin to believe that drinking will heal their heartache. The singer finds themselves sitting alone at a bar, observing the world around them growing dark, and feeling like they can mend their pain by simply continuing to drink.
The lyrics also reflect on the past, with the singer reminiscing about how they used to have the ability to make their lover's heart stop with their charm. However, it becomes clear that the relationship was not a happy one, as their partner made it evident that they were not content and desired a different life. The singer realizes they never took the time to express how much they missed their partner and pleads for another chance, even though they know they are the last thing on their ex's mind.
Throughout the song, the singer acknowledges that alcohol cannot truly make everything clear or mend their broken heart. The pain of losing a love they still need is not easy to overcome, but they are willing to try. In the end, they concur that they cannot face the reality of the situation and will continue drinking to avoid dealing with the pain of the breakup.

Well I got a shot of crown,
I took a shot of whiskey (Crown Royal),
A beer to chase it down
Then I had a beer to wash it down
Now I'm one drink from being over you
Now I'm just one more drink away from finally moving on from you
As it starts to settle in,
As the alcohol starts to affect me,
I fight to not give into those memories
I struggle to resist the memories of our relationship
before you said you're through
before you ended our relationship
As I sit here at this bar,
As I sit alone at this bar,
watch the world turn dark
watching the world around me become gloomy
It won't be long 'til I start thinking
It won't be long until I start believing
I can fix the pain now
I can numb the pain with alcohol
Just keep drinking
Just keep drinking to escape the pain
Well it seems like yesterday,
It feels like just yesterday,
Still had a way to make your heart
I still had a way to make your heart
stop right in its tracks
pause and stop loving someone else
Well you made it all too clear
But you made it very clear
that you weren't happy here
that you were not happy in our relationship
Wanted every place that all of had to like
You wanted every place we went to together to be perfect
Yeah I've overstayed today
Yeah, I've overstayed my welcome today
Never stopped to say
Never took the time to say
That it's you that I've been missin'
That it's you that I've been missing all this time
So annoy me down
So drown my sorrows
And keep on drinkin'
And keep on drinking to cope with the pain
Well there's no amount of beer
No matter how much beer I consume
To make it all seem clear
It won't make everything seem clear
That I lost
That I lost
A love I need
A love that I desperately needed
This ain't easy on my heart
This is not easy for my heart
I'll have to try real hard
I'll have to make a real effort
To get over you
To finally move on from you
Leavin'
After you left me
So bartender one more round
So bartender, give me another drink
To force the pain back down
To suppress the pain once again
And I'll try to call you one more time
And I'll make one more attempt to call you
Even this'll check the tones
Even though I know it won't change anything
You know you're not alone
You know that you're not the only one feeling lonely
And I'm the last thing
And I'm the least of your worries
That's been on your mind
That has been occupying your thoughts
Man, what was I thinking'
Man, what was I thinking when I got involved with you
Musta been drinkin'
I must have been drunk to make the decision to be with you
I can't face that now
I can't face the reality of our relationship ending now
So I'll keep on drinkin'
So I'll continue drinking to avoid facing the pain
Keep on drinkin'
Keep on drinking to numb my emotions
Yeah, yeah'
Yeah, yeah'
