Growing up in a musical family, Sam began singing in church at the age of five. By the time he was ten, Sam was already penning his own lyrics. Inspired by his sister who played the piano, he taught himself to play guitar, bass, piano, and drums. Sam was born a natural singer without any formal vocal coaching. His father, also a singer, is a big influence.
Sam draws his influences from such greats as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Eric Clapton, and Gavin DeGraw. He enjoys performing anything acoustic that has soul and is fond of rock, pop, soul, blues, jazz, and country music.
Sam has recently co-written with Jeff Scott Soto (former lead singer of the legendary rock band Journey, Talisman, Soul SirkUS, Yngwie Malmsteen). A few songs are to be released on Jeff’s new solo CD. This is what Jeff had to say about Sam: “Bro, you are the freshest new artist out there. I will be telling the world about you and if there is anything I can do to help you along, rest assured I will. People need to hear Sam Grow. You will be a superstar my friend!”
Sam has also performed with Grammy award winner Kanye West, Kat Parsons, one of the highest selling independent artists in the US, and national touring artist singer/songwriter/pianist Dave Yaden (Marc Broussard, Josh Kelley, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson).
Sam’s latest release “Ignition” is an infusion of Rock, Pop, and Soul that creates an enticing, new listening experience sure to satisfy the ear of a wide range audience. The first cut, “Oh So Jaded”, has become a crowd favorite. “Work in Progress”, Sam’s first CD release, is a five song EP full of Sam’s soulful, bluesy sound. The single “Meant to Be” was the featured track of the day on September 28, 2006 on GarageBand.com and the song peaked at 4.8 out of 5 stars.
This is just the start of Sam’s promising career and he has already started a buzz among the industry.

Tryna stay out ′n listen to your friends
Every time the wine gets you gone
You always wind up back in my arms
And in this bed and in my head
The things we should say that go unsaid
I can't think with you all on me
Now you′re gettin′ closer, put your lips on mine
I watch that "want you back" look burn in your eyes
Every touch is just takin' me high
Look at us just feedin′ that fire
I give you what you want, you give me what I need
The way your body's talkin′ sayin' you ain′t done with me
Yeah you know I'd fall for it every time
I can't help but let you cross them lines
We ain′t staying over, if you′re staying over
No
We ain't staying over, if you′re staying over
That sun comes out, with our aching heads
Goin' back to bein′ a little more than friends
Yeah you leave, start your week
Do what you can to try not to think of me
When that moon comes out, your defenses down
You'll come back around, you′ll come back around
Now you're gettin' closer, put your lips on mine
I watch that "want you back" look burn in your eyes
Every touch is just takin′ me high
Look at us just feedin′ that fire
I give you what you want, you give me what I need
The way your body's talkin′ sayin' you ain′t done with me
Yeah you know I'd fall for it every time
I can′t help but let you cross them lines
We ain't staying over, if you're staying over
No
We ain′t staying over, if you′re staying over
Now you're gettin′ closer, put your lips on mine
I watch that "want you back" look burn in your eyes
Every touch is just takin' me high
Look at us just feedin′ that fire
I give you what you want, you give me what I need
The way your body's talkin′ sayin' you ain't done with me
Yeah you know I′d fall for it every time
I can′t help but let you cross them lines
We ain't staying over if you′re staying over
No
We ain't staying over if you′re staying over
The song "Staying Over" is about a couple who can't resist each other’s company despite trying to keep a distance. The lyrics detail their evening together where the woman shows up drunk, desperate to stay over and keep their relationship going. The singer, however, is conflicted about indulging in the moment since both of them know that their semi-toxic dynamic isn't sustainable. As they spend the night together, the singer realizes that they can't think straight with the woman so close and wants to avoid the inevitable collateral damage that comes with their involvement. The song ends with the singer reminding the partner that if they're staying over, they won't be staying over, hinting at the need to finally let go of the relationship.
The lyrics of the song showcase the emotional vulnerability and turmoil that comes with being in a complicated relationship where nothing seems easy. Sam Grow's voice adds an extra layer of emotional complexity to the lyrics, almost as if he's making a plea to his partner to see reason and end the vicious cycle that they find themselves in.
