Mummy don't know daddy's getting hot
At the Body Shop
Doing something unholy
He like it, like it, yeah (ooh)
He like it, like it, yeah (yeah, yeah)
He like it, like it, yeah (uh)
He like it, like it, yeah
A lucky, lucky girl
She got married to a boy like you
She'd kick you out if she ever, ever knew
'Bout all the- you tell me that you do
Dirty, dirty boy
You know everyone is talkin' on the scene
I hear them whisperin' 'bout the places that you've been
And how you don't know how to keep your business clean

Mummy don't know daddy's getting hot
At the Body Shop
Doin' somethin' unholy
He's sat back while she's droppin' it
She be poppin' it
Yeah, she put it down slowly
Oh-ee-oh-ee-oh, he left his kids at
Ho-ee-oh-ee-ome so he can get that
Mummy don't know daddy's getting hot
At the Body Shop
Doin' somethin' unholy (woo)

Mmm, daddy, daddy, if you want it, drop the addy (yeah, yeah)
Give me love, give me Fendi, my Balenciaga daddy
You gon' need to bag it up 'cause I'm spendin' on Rodeo (woo)
You can watch me back it up, I'll be gone in the A.M. (yeah)
And he, he get me Prada, get me Miu Miu like Rihanna (ah)
He always call me 'cause I never cause no drama
And when you want it, baby, I know I got you covered (yeah-yeah-yeah)
And when you need it, baby, just jump under the covers (yeah)

Mummy don't know daddy's getting hot (hot)
At the Body Shop (Shop)
Doin' somethin' unholy
He's sat back while she's droppin' it (she)
She be poppin' it (she)
Yeah, she put it down slowly
Oh-ee-oh-ee-oh, he left his kids at

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sam Smith's "uNhOlY" depict a man engaging in something "unholy" at a body shop, while his wife or partner remains in the dark about his behavior. The opening line "Mummy don't know daddy's getting hot at the body shop" sets the scene for infidelity or perhaps some kind of illegal activity. The chorus repeats "He like it, like it, yeah" which could refer to the excitement and arousal that comes with taboo behavior.

The second verse introduces a "lucky, lucky girl" who is married to the man engaging in the "unholy" activity. The singer suggests that the wife would not be pleased with her husband's behavior and that he is, in fact, a "dirty, dirty boy" who can't keep his "business clean." The third verse is sung by a female voice, perhaps the woman at the body shop, who seems to be enjoying the lavish gifts the man is providing her with, such as Fendi bags and Balenciaga clothing.

Overall, the song portrays a secretive, scandalous affair that is likely to have serious consequences for all involved. The lyrics suggest that the man is enjoying the thrill of engaging in something "unholy" but will eventually need to "bag it up" to avoid detection.

For those that are confused:

The singer talks about a man who’s cheating on his wife and cannot keep things clean. The rumors have spread, even though his wife doesn’t know about them yet. In the song, Kim Petras plays the role of the girl the man is cheating with, interpreting her as a woman playing with her sugar daddy.

Sam Smith talks about the cheater, and the words the song pronounce are full of disgust:

🎵Mummy don’t know daddy’s getting hot at the body shop
Doing something unholy🎵

The song’s beginning explains that the wife doesn’t know yet that her husband is a cheater. The first lines describe the act of cheating as “something unholy”

🎵Lucky, lucky girl, she got married to a boy like you
She’d kick you out if she ever, ever knew
‘Bout all the s**t you tell me that you do
Dirty, dirty boy, you know everyone is talking on the scene
I hear them whisperin’ ’bout the places that you’ve been
And how you don’t know how to keep your business clean🎵

They are obviously taking the part of the wife, who doesn’t know he’s a cheater. He should feel lucky to have her. Instead, he acts unrespectfully and cannot even keep his actions secret.

🎵Mmm, daddy, daddy, if you want it, drop the add’y
Give me love, give me Fendi, my Balenciaga daddy
You gon’ need to bag it up, ’cause I’m spending on Rodeo
You can watch me back it up, I’ll be gone in the a.m.🎵

The wife remains in the dark while the husband enjoys the adulterous affair, despite his bragging to Smith about all the sh!t he does.

🎵And when you want it, baby
I know I got you covered
And when you need it, baby
Just jump under the covers🎵

This line sung by Kim Petras sung the dirty perspective of the girl the man is cheating with: she’s only looking for money and benefits from this relationship, and she does her part to cover him when needed.

Connecting all the context clues in the lyrics, it seems the cheating husband has visited the club, met another woman, and continued to have a relationship with her. Petras’ line provides even more details about the husband’s infidelity, which seems to have a financial component.

The song’s dark mood highlights how the referred actions are wrong, against nature. Using the term “unholy” implies a divine perspective on the situation: it’s not something the singer can fix. Therefore, they invoke God’s judgment on it and rely on His punishment, eventually.

I love how it has just the right amount of time silence before Kim comes on and then she sings for herself and you can get that rhythm but then when the music starts playing again you get that beat
