Samantha 7 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Not a nice place to be
Saw you sitting there
Couldn't wait to leave
Chorus
Cover girl
See the world
Jump if you can't find tomorrow
Only child
Running wild
Nothing left to say goodbye to you
We all fall down
Some without a sound
Ashes everywhere
More are lost than found
Chorus
We all fall down
We all fall down
The lyrics to Samantha 7's song, Cover Girl, delve into themes of despair, hopelessness, and the fragility of life. The opening lines of "Nine times three, not a nice place to be," may refer to a challenging or difficult period in someone's life. It could be a reference to feeling trapped in a repetitive or negative cycle, where every attempt to escape seems impossible. When the singer "saw you sitting there," it suggests they may have witnessed someone else in this state and empathized with their pain. However, the realization that "couldn't wait to leave" could also imply that the singer was not in a position to help the other person or felt powerless.
The chorus of the song, "Cover girl, see the world, close your eyes, jump if you can't find tomorrow, only child, running wild, nothing left to say goodbye to you," may be seen as advice to someone who is struggling. The phrase "cover girl" is a peculiar choice for the title, but it could mean someone who appears perfect on the outside but is hurting deeply on the inside. Cover Girl may also be someone striving for fame and fortune while overcoming the obstacles that come with it. The lyrics urge her to "close her eyes" and take a leap of faith, suggesting that sometimes, one has to face their fears and take a chance to succeed or break free from their negative patterns.
