Seane' Girl
Samantha 7 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No not me
I never thought I'd feel this way again
All the girls I know are just my friends
Suddenly I see your face right in front of me
It's just a picture in the LA Weekly
And if I loved her forever
She was waiting for the right time to appear
Chorus
Seane girl is playing down the in Silver Lake
With my heart
But the rest of me will have to wait and see

Love is blind
But love is the last thing I thought I'd find
Unless I finally lost my mind
Another day I might have turned my head
And walked away
Don't believe in happy endings until today
And if I loved her forever
She was waiting for the right time to appear

Chorus

If my mind is playing tricks on me
Why is it so hard to believe in?

Chorus

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Samantha 7's song "Seane Girl" are quite melancholic and poignant. The singer of the song confesses that they never thought they would feel this way again, as all the girls they knew were just friends. However, suddenly they see the face of someone they may be falling in love with right in front of them, albeit in a picture in the LA Weekly. The singer acknowledges that love is blind, and they never thought they would find it, unless they had finally lost their mind. Despite the doubts and uncertainties, the singer cannot deny the overwhelming feelings they have for this person.

The chorus of the song further emphasizes the struggles and uncertainties of the singer's love. The "Seane girl" is playing down in Silver Lake with the singer's heart. While the rest of them will have to wait and see what happens, it is clear that this person has had a profound impact on the singer's emotions. The line "love is blind, but love is the last thing I thought I'd find" encapsulates the notion that love can come out of nowhere and catch someone off guard.

Ultimately, the singer questions their own perceptions and asks if their mind is playing tricks on them, but they still find it hard to shake the belief in their love. The song serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictability and confusion that can come with falling in love.
