Dancing Queen
Samantha Jade Lyrics

You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Where they play the right music
Getting in the swing
You come to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music
Everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat on the tambourine, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave 'em burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another
Anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat on the tambourine, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
The lyrics to Samantha Jade's song "Dancing Queen" celebrate the joy and freedom of dancing. The song begins by encouraging the listener to let loose and enjoy themselves on the dance floor. It portrays a carefree atmosphere where one can jive and have the time of their life. The mention of "that girl" and "that scene" suggests that there is a particular energy and excitement in the air.
The lyrics then set the scene of a Friday night, where the lights are low and people are looking for a place to go. The music being played is just right, creating the perfect atmosphere for swinging and dancing. It hints at the desire to find a special someone, a "king," while also acknowledging that anyone could fit the role for the night.
The chorus emphasizes the singer as the dancing queen, young and sweet at only seventeen years old. It highlights the euphoria of feeling the beat, specifically on the tambourine. The song suggests that dancing is a way to captivate others, being a teaser who turns them on, but also moves on to find another dance partner.
Overall, "Dancing Queen" celebrates the exhilaration and freedom of dancing, while also exploring the thrill of the chase and the fleeting nature of connections on the dance floor.
