Living Room Floor
Sammy Rae & The Friends Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's so nice to be here
I say that everywhere I go
But I mean it so sincerely
Thank you for coming to the show
You've all made me feel like I'm right at home

In my living room
That's the most intimate venue
Standing on the coffee table now
I thank my empty couch for coming out
But any room can be your living room as long as you live in it
Tonight this room's our living room

Somebody said three makes a crowd
I just laugh
Because I've played for crowds a little bit smaller than that
Singing in the living room for a dog and a cat
But you know those animals
They've got some pretty funky moves
Their sensitive ears detect the subtlest of grooves

When we're in my living room
That's the most intimate venue
Standing on the coffee table now
I thank my empty couch for coming out

But any room can be your living room as long as you live in it
Tonight this room's our living room

Overall Meaning

Sammy's voice has such a multidimensional tone, it's like every wrinkle of the sound could map perfectly to a part of your own life.

@Basomic

Sammy & Friends! This song is sooo beautiful! The strings! The choir! As hard as these last months have been, my favorite thing to have come from it has been discovering your incredible music and the involuntary dancing that's resulted on my own Living Room Floor. Thank you for the added little joy your music brings and the smile it always brings to my face. You better believe you'll be the first band I'll buy tickets for when it's safe again. Much love!

Edit: I also love that the driving kick drum at 3:06 comes in at the end of the song. Normally, I'd expect something like that more towards the beginning, but really cool choice to have it at the end

Edit 2: The more I listen, the more I'd love to hear an instrumental reprise version of this song! The instrumentation is too beautiful not to

Why is Samy Rae so underrated? Genuinely curious.
