Hammerhead
Samson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A story is told that in Asgard of old
was a hammer of great might
By the furnace light in the depth of night
there was cast an ingot of old

Can you hear the hammerhead in the wind [x2]

They hammered on wrought and the rune spell caught
and engraved upon it's shaft
With a head of steel beneath which all men would kneel
and would lay down the sword at last

Can you hear the hammerhead in the wind [x2]

[STICK:]
They laid on the anvil, a steel cold bar
Needing no fire nor file
But their sledgehammers, like thunder rolled
And sindre sang runes by the fire

[SOLO]

[REPEAT STICK]

Can you hear the hammerhead in the wind [x4]

I clearly remember an older friend of mine introducing me to iron maiden and he's said hear man check this cassette out man it's got a mix of all their stuff on this album and it was "live after death" and so from there I became a fan and so over time we would go to this record store that had both records and cassette tapes everywhere and dude you could find stuff you've never even seen or heard of or even thought existed man it was crazy the stuff this guy had at this record store and so anyways I'm fumbling through the cassette tapes and I see Samson featuring Bruce Dickinson it said and I was like dude have you ever heard of Samson with Bruce Dickinson and my buddy said yeah that's how Bruce got to start and music and I was like damn cuz I never even knew that so that was even more exciting for me as a fan for both Bruce Dickinson and iron maiden but anyways I just wanted to share an old memory with you all and it's really cool to see Bruce singing outside of iron maiden and such a young crisp voice.... As the English would say...."jubilee!!!" 💯
