Crazy Love
Sara Evans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see
I'm never been imprisoned by a faded memory
Just when I think I'm over him
This broken heart will mend
I hear his name and I have to cry
The tears come down again
It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Oh oh, crazy love, I

Count the stars in a summer sky
That fall without a sound
And then pretend that you came here
These teardrops coming down

It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Oh oh, crazy love, I

Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see
I'm never been imprisoned by a faded memory

It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Oh oh, crazy love, I

Tonight I'm gonna break away

Overall Meaning

Sara Evans's song Crazy Love is a compelling story of a woman who is struggling to break free from the shackles of a past relationship. Despite her attempts to move on and forget her ex-lover, she is constantly reminded of him whenever his name is mentioned. She tries to fight her tears but they always flow when the memories come flooding back. But despite the pain and agony that her broken heart has brought her, she still finds herself clinging to the memories of the love that once was. The singer's sense of confusion and longing is encapsulated in the title - for her, it seems that love and craziness go hand in hand, and she is trapped in a never-ending cycle of loving and hurting.

The chorus, which repeats the phrase "This crazy love of mine" several times, conveys the singer's sense of helplessness and confusion. The phrase "Wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind" highlights the strength of feeling that she still harbors towards her ex-lover, and the fact that she is unable to let go. The metaphor of counting the stars in a summer sky that fall without a sound, and pretending that her ex-lover has come back, speaks to the singer's desire to escape from her feelings of loneliness and heartbreak.

In summary, Crazy Love is a poignant portrayal of what it's like to be stuck in a loop of love and heartbreak. Despite the singer's efforts to move on, she is haunted by the memories of her past relationship and struggles to escape from the cycle of pain.
