After moving to Atlanta for college, Kays continued to develop her skills as a singer, songwriter, and performer. She started writing her own music at the age of seventeen and regularly performed at open mic nights. Her talent caught the attention of online audiences through covers she posted on social media platforms, which helped her cultivate a devoted fan base.
In 2018, Kays independently released her debut EP titled "A House Too Big," featuring self-published singles. She initially shared her music on YouTube and expanded her presence to platforms such as TikTok, where she has amassed over 1.9 million fans on her sarakaysmusic account.
In 2020, Kays signed a contract with Atlantic Recording Corporation, marking a significant milestone in her career. Her first single released under the label, "Remember That Night," went viral on TikTok towards the end of 2020. The song achieved chart success in the Netherlands and Flanders in 2021, further elevating her profile.
In early 2021, Kays made her national television debut with a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, showcasing her growing recognition in the industry.
On August 6, 2021, she unveiled her EP "Struck By Lightning," a collection of seven tracks that has been referred to as a mini-album or album. Sara Kays' musical journey showcases her evolution from a young street musician to a rising star in the American music scene.
Is There Anything Else?

But usually you're looking past me
At somebody else
And she's pretty as hell
It's not that I don't notice
I'm just busy taking notes
On her body, on her hair
On the way you're staring at her
If I dyed my hair to be your favorite color, dear
If I started losing half a pound a day
Would you second guess, would you decide to stay? (would you stay?)
And is there anything else that you'd like me to change?
Driving to your apartment
I was thinking to myself
Maybe I am out of my mind
When you're around
'Cause I really think that changing how I look could change your mind
If I dyed my hair to be your favorite color, dear
If I agreed with everything you had to say
Would you second guess, would you decide to stay? (would you stay?)
And is there anything else that you'd like me to change?
I turned around
And drove home
For the last time
'Cause now I know
That I should dye my hair to be my favorite color and
Shouldn't have to worry every single day
About how I look and if you're gonna stay (would you stay?)
And now there's nothing that you can say to make me change
No there's nothing that you can say to make me change
The lyrics in Sara Kays's song "Is There Anything Else?" explores the feelings of inadequacy and desperation that can come with being in a relationship where one person is constantly comparing their partner to others. The first few lines describe the singer's observation of her partner's behavior: he is usually looking past her, at someone else who is "pretty as hell." She takes note of the details that her partner seems to be captivated by and starts to imagine changing herself to fit his preferences.
The chorus of the song, where the singer poses hypothetical questions about changing her appearance or opinions to please her partner, highlights the underlying anxiety and insecurity that comes with feeling like one's partner is always looking for someone better. The driving metaphor of the song, where the singer is on her way to see her partner's apartment and questioning her own sanity, adds to the idea that this is a situation that is both emotionally and mentally draining.
The final verse of the song, where the singer turns around and decides to break off the relationship, is a powerful moment of self-realization. She decides that she shouldn't have to change herself to please someone else and that her worth shouldn't be dependent on how she looks or thinks. The lyrics of "Is There Anything Else?" speak to the universal struggle of wanting to be loved for who we are and not for some idealized version of ourselves that we think others want.

Sometimes you're looking at me
At times, you glance at me
But usually you're looking past me
Mostly, you look beyond my presence
At somebody else
At another woman
And she's pretty as hell
And she's exceptionally beautiful
It's not that I don't notice
It's not that I am oblivious
I'm just busy taking notes
I'm busy registering details
On her body, on her hair
On her physique, and hairstyle
On the way you're staring at her
On how intently you gaze at her
Got me wishing I could look like I'm your type
It got me desiring to look the way you prefer
If I dyed my hair to be your favorite color, dear
If I changed my hair color to suit your preference
If I started losing half a pound a day
If I commenced losing weight rapidly
Would you second guess, would you decide to stay? (would you stay?)
Would you contemplate leaving or would you stay?
And is there anything else that you'd like me to change?
Can you tell me if there's anything else you want me to modify?
Driving to your apartment
While driving to your place
I was thinking to myself
I was pondering to myself
Maybe I am out of my mind
Perhaps I'm insane
When you're around
When you're in proximity
'Cause I really think that changing how I look could change your mind
Because I strongly believe that altering my appearance can impact your perception
I turned around
I took a U-turn
And drove home
And steered back to my house
For the last time
For one final time
'Cause now I know
Because now I am aware
That I should dye my hair to be my favorite color and
That I need to dye my hair the way I love it
Shouldn't have to worry every single day
Shouldn't stress every day
About how I look and if you're gonna stay (would you stay?)
About my appearance and if you'll stay
And now there's nothing that you can say to make me change
And now no words from you can make me revise my decision
No there's nothing that you can say to make me change
Nothing you say can make me change now

maintenant si tu veux me battre vas-y et essaye
si tu veux vraiment me battre vas-y et essaye
