Someone Like You
Sarah Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
At rest from life, from patience and from pain
At rest from bliss, we know not when we find
How can I have enough of life and love
In your eyes are my secrets that I've never shown you
In my heart I feel I've always known you
In your arms there's a comfort that I never knew
Sure as the sunrise, pure as a prayer
You fashioned hope right out of thin air
Every dream I abandoned, seems it could come true
I believe in miracles, there's no one like you
Innocent as a newborn in a world so frightening
It's as if my world's been struck by lightning
Every dream I abandoned, seems it could come true
I believe in miracles, there's no one like you
The first stanza of the song Someone Like You by Sarah Brightman talks about finding rest from the struggles and pains of life. The lyrics suggest that even though the afterlife might be peaceful, there is a feeling that one might miss out on living and experiencing love. The opening lines indicate a sense of contemplation about life and whether it is worth it to give up everything in pursuit of rest. The lyrics paint a picture of someone who might have reached the end of their life journey or is facing difficult decisions and wondering what the future holds.
The second stanza of the song is a declaration of love. Sarah sings about the deep connection she has with her lover. She lays bare her vulnerability, admitting that there are secrets hidden in her eyes, things that only her lover can see. She talks about finding comfort and safety in his arms, something that she never knew before. The lyrics describe someone that she has been waiting for, someone that is unique and has no equal in her life. The song suggests that the person she is singing to is the missing piece in her life, someone that completes her.
Overall, Someone Like You is a song about love, loss, and finding someone special. The lyrics speak to the depths of human emotion, expressing feelings of vulnerability and hope all at once.
