The Second Element II
Sarah Brightman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A light in the dark
Shining day and night for me
Flowing water
The source of our life
Covering the world
Gentle air blowing
Caressing my face
The endless symphony
Wasn't it you
Who was filling my dreams
The second element
Everywhere you are rife
Wasn't it you
Who was filling the streams
The second element
With the power of life
Creeks are winding
Just seeking their way
Harly tryin' to reach the sea
Raindrops falling
From skies to the earth
Bringing life to you and me
Lakes of silence
A magical sound
Keeping secrets in the ground
A perfect harmony
Wasn't it you
Who was breaking the light
The second element
And the rainbows arise
Oh, wasn't it you
Who was standing a fight
The second element
From the earth to the skies
Wasn't it you, who was filling my dreams
Wasn't it you, who was filling the streams
Wasn't it you, who was breaking the light
Wasn't it you?
The lyrics of Sarah Brightman's song "The Second Element" are an ode to the four natural elements - fire, water, air, and earth. Each stanza describes the beauty and power of these elements, highlighting how they are all around us in different forms. The chorus then suggests that the "second element" is something beyond these four physical elements - something that fills the dreams and gives life.
The first stanza talks about fire as a source of light in the dark, and water as the source of all life that covers the world. Air is described as gentle and soothing, while bringing dreams of love. The second stanza continues to highlight the power of water and rain, and how they breathe life into the world. Lakes are said to keep secrets in the ground, and the perfect harmony between all these elements is a testament to the "second element" that is beyond them.
The overall message of the song seems to suggest that there is something beyond the physical world, something that ties all these elements together and gives them meaning. This "second element" could be interpreted as spirituality, or even love itself. The lyrics are beautifully written and full of imagery that evokes a sense of wonder and awe at the natural world.
