Sweet Memories
Sarah Geronimo Lyrics

Brings back those memories
All of the ones that I
Thought were all dead and gone
But then I guess that time has a hold
Of all my dreams of you
I can't go back until they're through
Baby don't ask if I am happy
It always ends in pain
And I'm no good at lies
I can't take it feel so alone
No other love can take your place
All of my memories
Lost like a dreamer
Beautiful rainbows
Coming out after the rain
All night long you
Filled me up with
All of the kindness in your heart
And all I have left are sweet memories
Don't kiss me baby
We can never be
So don't add more than pain
Please don't hurt me again
I've spent so many nights
Thinking of you longing for your touch
I have once loved you so much
I guess I was too young
Too young to know love
Too young to think that
You would hurt me like the others you found
Too young for rainbows
All of my colors turned to rain
And now I am left with sweet memories
All of my memories
Lost like a dreamer
Beautiful rainbows
Coming out after the rain
All night long you
Filled me up with
All of the kindness in your heart
And all I have left are sweet memories
The lyrics of Sarah Geronimo's song Sweet Memories depict a broken-hearted person who is pained by the memories of a past love that seemed to be dead and gone. The nostalgia of the pain-filled past overwhelms the singer, making it challenging to go back to how things used to be. The singer expresses the difficulty of pretending to be happy while masking the deep emotional pain experienced. The singer is miserable and reticent about pretending to be happy when it is a game that will lead to pain. The singer admits to being unable to take it and feels alone, acknowledging that no other love could fill the void left by the past love.
The singer ascertains that memories are all that is left of the past love, of how the person filled the singer with love and kindness that cannot be replaced. The memories are recurring and sweet like beautiful rainbows that shine after the rain. The singer begs the person not to kiss or hurt them again, acknowledging that they can never be. In retrospect, the singer realizes that they were too young to know love and that the person would end up being like the others that left hurt in their wake, making all the colors in the singer's life turn to rain.

I was 13 going on 14 when my crush told me that he loved me. I didn't believe it at first but then he asked me to believe. I am 22 going on 23 and he told me that was a test. A joke. I was too young and it was long enough to realize the truth.
