I Found Love
Sarah Shannon/Styrofoam Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I found love, didn't even know I needed it
But I found love, never even crossed my mind
I found love, had a garden never weeded it
But I found love, took an apple just in time

I found love in the fall and it did not hurt at all
I found sunlight and flowers, soft summer showers
I can feel my heart touch my Adams apple
I can feel the feather in my head
There is a lightness, politeness, fingers tingle, tootsies tap
till dawn comes and finds me never in my bed

I found love, didn't even know I needed it
But I found love, never even crossed my mind

I found love in the spring and I did not lose a thing
I found love in the fall and it did not hurt at all
I found sunlight and flowers, soft summer showers.
I can feel my heart touch my Adams apple
I can feel the feather in my head
There is a lightness, politeness, fingers tingle, tootsies tap
till dawn comes and finds me never in my bed

Had a garden never weeded it
But I found love
Took an apple just in time

I found love in this world and my heart strings just unfurled
I found love in the spring and I did not lose a thing
I found love in the fall and it did not hurt at all

I found love in this world and my heart strings just unfurled
I found love in the spring and I did not lose a thing.

Overall Meaning

"I Found Love" by Sarah Shannon/Styrofoam is a song that talks about finding love unexpectedly. The singer starts by saying that they didn't even know they needed love before finding it. The line "never even crossed my mind" suggests that the singer wasn't actively searching for love but stumbled upon it. The second line in the first verse reveals that the singer had a garden that they haven't weeded. The garden could symbolize the singer's heart or life in general, which could have been untidy or neglected. However, finding love changed things for them, and they took an apple just in time, possibly referring to the biblical story of Adam and Eve, where the apple represents temptation.

The chorus suggests that the singer found love during different seasons, and it didn't hurt them. They found sunlight, flowers, and soft summer showers, which are all positive and peaceful things. The line "I can feel my heart touch my Adams apple" could mean that the singer's heart is so full of love that they can feel it in their throat. The singer also feels lightness, politeness, and tingling in their fingers and toes, which are all signs of happiness and contentment. The last line of the chorus says that the singer never sleeps in their bed, implying that they are too happy and restless to sleep.

The second verse repeats the chorus, but adds a new line about how the singer's heart strings unfurled when they found love. It means that their heart opened up, and they were more receptive to the positive things around them. The last line of the song says that the singer didn't lose anything by finding love, suggesting that it only added to their life.

Very nice remake! I plan to get this album eventually. I'm a total Free Design junkie. I remember them from growing up.

First heard this in Fopp (top of Charing Cross Rd, London, turn right 30 yds down). Bought the album on the spot. This is my favourite track. Love Fee Design and their harmonies/melodies. Seem to remember browsing through latest offer CD’s when this came on and being stopped in my tracks in utter awe at what I was listening to. Quite obviously my sort of music. Highly recommended.
