And tellin' me that you love me so sincerely
Should've seen it coming, should've known you were no good for me
I had to find out from your friends what you did that night
I hope my back didn't break your knife
Did you do it by candle light? Did you have the best time of your life?
Now you're comin' around again
You say you'll be a better man
You've got a dozen dying roses from a drug store
You've got your tail between your legs and you're back for more
You tell me that you're sorry and you miss me so
But the answer will always be no
You're down on your knees
And you're cryin'
But I've learned my lesson from your lying
See, I don't really hate to say I told you so
And the answer will always be no
The answer will always be no
Funny you should ask about your faithless ways
See, I was devastated for a couple days
Then I finally realized how you made me suffocate
So get up, get out, don't let the door hit your ass
Those puppy dog eyes only make me laugh
Can't believe this conversation
Can't believe you thought you had a chance
I'm such a stronger person now
I must admit I'm enjoying how
This makes you feel
You've got a dozen dying roses from a drug store
You've got your tail between your legs and you're back for more
You tell me that you're sorry and you miss me so
But the answer will always be no
You're down on your knees and you're cryin'
But I've learned my lesson from your lying
See, I don't really hate to say I told you so
And the answer will always be no
The answer will always be no
I think her boyfriend knows
You better watch your back, ha
Watch your back
You've got a dozen dying roses from a drug store
You've got your tail between your legs and you're back for more
You tell me that you're sorry and you msis me so
But the answer will always be no
You're down on your knees and you're cryin'
But I've learned my lesson from your lying
See I don't really hate to say I told you so
I don't really hate to say I told you so
No, I don't really hate to say I told you so
And the answer will always be... haha no
The song "No" by Sasha Pieterse is about a woman who has had it with her deceitful ex-boyfriend. The first verse opens with her reminiscing about his charming smile and green eyes, which had initially won her over. However, she now reflects on how she should have known that he was no good for her. She discovered the truth about his infidelity from his friends, and she suspects he may have even used a knife in the process. The chorus repeats, emphasizing her steadfastness in rejecting him, despite his attempts at apology and reconciliation. In the second verse, she mocks his "puppy dog eyes" and dismisses him as having no chance with her. She revels in her own strength and growth, having learned from his lies and taken charge of the situation. The song concludes with a warning to him that he had better watch his back.
Pieterse's vocal delivery throughout the song is confident and sassy, conveying her assertive attitude towards her ex. The lyrics are straightforward and unapologetic, with a touch of humor sprinkled throughout. The upbeat tempo and guitar riffs give the song a catchy pop-rock feel.
