The band released a 7-track EP, Seagull in April 2012 on the Lazy Butterfly Record, which had been recorded at Conversion Studios UK. The self-titled track Seagull received critical acclaim, with iTunes placing the EP on their homepage as a recommended record. The title track won a coveted "Q Track of the Day" and a place on the soundtrack of the movie "House at the End of the Street" (released Sept 2012) and the hit US teen mystery series "Twisted" (ABC TV) . In addition the band were promptly invited to record sessions for Daytrotter, Crypt and Watch, Listen, Tell - the latter receiving over 11,000 hits in 1 week.
Their debut album, Orixé, was released in January 2014 and received widespread praise from the music press - "utterly perfect" (The Guardian), "Beautifully translucent" (Clash Magazine) and even received 4/5 stars from The Financial Times. The distinctive artwork to the album was hand-drawn by Adonna Khare.
Borderline
Saturday Sun Lyrics

There's a man in the middle and he's guiding you.
I saw a ravenous bird
Its never fair when he seems him through.
Always an eager smile
Its a tether in me, in calling me back home.
Always an easy life
There's a river in me, but the water it runs cold
Walking through the walls, we collide
But would it mean much to you?
Walking through the wall, borderlines
Are all I can see
I see
I cannot see my hands
There's a man in the middle and he's guiding me
Always an eager smile
Its a tether in me, in calling me back home.
Its calling me back to you.
Walking through the walls, we collide
But would it mean much to you?
Walking through the wall, borderlines
Are all I can see
I see
Its in you and me
Its in you and ...
The lyrics of "Borderline" by Saturday Sun evoke feelings of confusion and uncertainty in terms of one's own path in life. The first stanza refers to a man who is guiding the singer, questioning why they chose the road they did. The image of a ravenous bird alludes to a sense of danger and unpredictability in the path ahead. Despite this, the singer still feels a tether to their past ("always an eager smile"), but is also aware of the coldness that now exists within them ("there's a river in me but the water it runs cold").
The chorus, which repeats twice in the song, adds to the sense of confusion. The concept of "walking through the walls" implies a supernatural or impossible experience, and yet the singer and the man they refer to continually collide. The imagery of "borderlines" suggests a geographical or emotional divide between the two, but it is uncertain what this means or if there is any hope of crossing it. The lyrics end with the repeated phrase "It's in you and me," which suggests that perhaps the confusion is universal and can only be solved through collaboration or shared experience.

Once helped run a gig for these boys...another level...and then they split. I'd help run another in a heart-beat if it was viable and the lads were up for it.
