The Garden

We took the poison to remember yesterday
Come under the river and wash it all away
Deep into the garden, we change
The shadows waiting for those that find the way
Someone's arriving it happens every day
It takes a brave one to love this night
Now we are the wild, get ready for the rain
It's just a gentle poison, so let it all in
Come under the river and wash it all away
Deep inside the garden, we change
The lyrics of Savoir Adore's song "The Garden" contain poetic imagery that invites the listener to explore a mystical and transformative journey. The opening lines, "Over the mountains they beckoned us to stay, we took the poison to remember yesterday," suggest an alluring call to an unknown place, represented by the mountains. The mention of poison here may symbolize the risks that come with seeking new experiences or the need to embrace both positive and negative aspects of the past.
The following lines, "Come under the river and wash it all away, deep into the garden, we change," continue the theme of transformation. The river acts as a metaphorical cleansing force, allowing for the release and renewal of hidden emotions or memories. Stepping deep into the garden symbolizes a profound exploration of oneself, where growth and change occur.
The lyrics further depict a sense of anticipation and discovery, as the shadows wait for those who find the way, and someone is arriving every day. This implies that this journey and self-discovery are not limited to just the singer but are open to anyone courageous enough to embark on it.
The chorus, "Now we are the wild, get ready for the rain, it's just a gentle poison, so let it all in," underscores the idea of embracing the unpredictability and challenges that come with growth. The "wild" represents a state of freedom and uninhibited self-expression. The rain suggests a necessary cleansing or renewal, and the reference to a "gentle poison" hints at the notion that embracing change or new experiences, even if they come with some discomfort, can ultimately lead to personal growth and transformation.
Overall, "The Garden" by Savoir Adore encapsulates a message of embracing transformation, embarking on a journey of self-discovery, and finding the courage to let go of the past in order to grow.
