Intro
Scary Mansion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh I am afraid
If I go blind I will still see it
Oh I am afraid
If I go blind I will still hear it

And you knead your hands
For what you do, for what you have
And I need night to
Go in blind eyes

Go in blind eyes

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Scary Mansion's song "Intro" capture a sense of fear and helplessness. The singer is afraid of something that they feel they cannot escape, even if they were to lose their sight or hearing. This fear is contrasted with the actions of another person, who is described as kneading their hands, perhaps as a sign of confidence or determination. The singer seems to want to retreat into darkness, to go blindly into the unknown, perhaps as a way of escaping whatever it is that is causing their fear.

Taken as a whole, the lyrics of "Intro" convey a sense of uncertainty, vulnerability, and even despair. The repetition of the line "Oh I am afraid" underscores the intensity of the singer's fear, while the image of kneading hands suggests a sense of struggle or conflict. The final line, "Go in blind eyes," can be interpreted in many ways, but it seems to suggest a willingness to confront the unknown, even if it means giving up one's sight or sense of direction.

6 Years Later! & I have just now realized that this song can be taken as an Anxious/Avoidant attachment dynamic where one person (Spooky) has extremely bad trauma & refuses to open up to an outsider & thus throws all of those walls (Doors) up to protect themselves while the other (Male Protagonist) anxiously hyperfixates on the situation at hand trying to find closure, some of these lyrics can hint at the Protagonist having ADHD & Spooky having BPD as she becomes increasingly more overwhelmed while the protagonist runs himself to the ground, breaking through all those walls & horrors being thrown at him while Spooky tries to keep herself safe, pay attention to 0:46-1:46 It's not until 2:25 that Spooky finally opens up about her pain thus forming a mutual understanding for both

"The hallways got longer & all the walls have turned red" = Distance, Rage, Hatebombing 1:01

"So many doors, so many questions" = Panic & Overstimulation 1:32

"My eyes are getting heavy & I just want it to end" = Emotional Burnout 1:36

"I'm losing my grip on reality" = Paranoia & Delusion 1:40
