I pretty much can't listen to this cover without being a sobbing mess by the end. Obviously Puddles' voice is angelic, that's a given, but the emotional progression is absolutely stunning. It starts numb, "pushing it down" as the lyrics suggest, but as it goes on the sadness sets in and by the end it's like an unfiltered cry for help, still technically marvellous but done in a way that feels so raw.

no because they all go through all the legal channels they need to publish these. the girl on America's got talent had the backing of the show to get the rights, and youtube makes sure that you fully disclose who the original artist is. as long as you aren't using their voice and video and you give them credit it is typically allowable, otherwise anyone could sue over similar situations, such as i tell a new joke and someone else uses it.

I agree with everything except for the "thinking about you" part.
The song is about depression itself, the thought that you have to just keep having one more drink to keep the bad thoughts at bay, because if you don't you will be hanging from the chandelier by morning.

It has nothing to do with another person.
It is a very personal song as Sia has had some pretty bad depression in the past.

This has always been one of my favourite songst from Postmodern Jukebox. But since I always used to listen to them on spotify, I never knew how everybody looked like. THE WAY HE SINGS THIS, SO...SO POWERFUL, SO MUCH EMOTION. I have not been so impressed, since I first heard BOWIE, Fifty years ago. I've got a whole list of songs I'd love to hear him sing. He is a truly gifted singer.
