In 2002, the duo split up, but Dan Lee continued to work under the name Scrabbel. Highly influenced by all things '65 to '75, Dan drew upon his love for bands like the Beatles, Love, the Who, the Zombies, Bowie, and T Rex to create the follow up.
He took time off in 2003 to become the keyboard player for the Aislers Set, and toured extensively around the US and Europe. In between tours, Dan worked hard writing new songs and building a new live band to perform as Scrabbel.
Current lineup is Dan Lee(gtr, vox, keys, bass, clarinet), Atsushi Murase(bass, gtr, keys), Hellen Jo(cello, keys, shakers), Stanley Lam(gtr, bg vox, bass, shakers), Aya Nakamura(vox, bells, melodica), Chris Cline(drums), and other guests from time to time.
Last Train
Scrabbel Lyrics

All over the city
Wish that you were with me
Okay, you can't stay
I know what you're thinking
Last train is leaving
But I never see you at all
And in one call, the sky falls
Wish that you were with me
Okay, is he okay?
Wonder what you're thinking
Now I feel like
I could never say enough
Good times I didn't mind
All over the city
Wish that you were with me
Okay, you can't stay
I know what you're thinking
Last train is leaving
But I never see you at all
Sometime, when you're all mine
Outside of the city everything is easy
When you stay, but I'm always
Idling the stress of something to confess
And all I can say to you
If we could go on and on
If we could go on and on
If we could go on and on
"Last Train" by Scrabbel is a song about longing and missed opportunities. The artist tells the story of being in the city with someone they care about and wishing that they could stay, but ultimately acknowledging that they have to leave on the last train. The artist reflects on the good times they had together and wonders what the other person is thinking. The lyrics convey a sense of regret and a desire to have more time with the person.
The first verse of the song sets the scene of the city and the artist's longing for the other person's presence. The second verse shifts to the artist's internal thoughts and feelings, wondering if the other person is okay and reflecting on their own inability to express their emotions. The chorus repeats the phrase "If we could go on and on," expressing a longing for more time together.
One interesting interpretation of the lyrics is that the "last train" can be seen as a metaphor for missed opportunities. The artist regrets not making the most of their time with the other person and wonders what could have been if they had stayed together longer. The song conveys a sense of melancholy and nostalgia, with the artist looking back on their time together with a mix of fondness and regret.
