Wundershozen
Screaming Mechanical Brain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The blood you bleed is the lifeblood of the industry
Make another martyr out of all the poor and and victimized
To keep the cycle of abuse around the world alive
The cuts and bruises are held under the microscope
The cuts and bruises are the evidence of dying hope
All the little pieces are so razor sharp and jagged edged
You will not see the link between the suffering
And little Nazis who pull the levers and strings
And all across the world, another flag unfurled
The shadow spreads like fire through every screen and wire
And all across the world, another flag unfurled
The shadow spreads like fire through every screen and wire
Everybody needs a little taste of authority
You'll get your bitter little sample just the same as me
The only difference is how we choose to handle it
You swallow for the greater good while I will take my aim and spit
Right in the face of modern twisted common sense
Right in the face of all the ladies and gents
Who take advantage of every shock and every tear
Then tighten up their strangle hold more year by year
You will not see the link between the suffering
And little Nazis who pull the levers and strings
One by one, manipulate
Twist reality to get anything they want
And all across the world, another flag unfurled
The shadow spreads like fire through every screen and wire
And all across the world, another flag unfurled
The shadow spreads like fire through every screen and wire
One by one, manipulate
Twist reality to get anything they want
The song "Wundershozen" by Screaming Mechanical Brain addresses the issue of how the entertainment industry profits off of the tragedy and suffering of others. The opening lines, "Everybody wants a little piece of the tragedy, The blood you bleed is the lifeblood of the industry," suggests that there are people in power who revel in others' pain, as it provides them with the content and ratings they need to maintain their authority. The cycle of abuse, manipulation, and victimization in the industry is perpetuated when the "little Nazis who pull the levers and strings" continue to exploit the disadvantaged.
The lyrics also draw attention to the fact that the suffering of those who have been victimized is often overlooked, and instead, their cuts and bruises are held under the microscope as evidence of their damaged state. This, in turn, becomes the basis for what is considered entertainment, as people crave the thrill of consuming the suffering of others, thereby perpetuating the cycle of abuse. The chorus, "And all across the world, another flag unfurled, The shadow spreads like fire through every screen and wire," illustrates how this problem is a global one, with the shadow of exploitation and manipulation seeping into every aspect of our lives because we continue to watch and participate.
In conclusion, the song "Wundershozen" by Screaming Mechanical Brain is a powerful indictment of the entertainment industry's tendency to profit off of the suffering of others by perpetuating a cycle of abuse, manipulation, and victimization. The lyrics draw our attention to the fact that this problem is global and affects all areas of our lives as we consume the media that perpetuates the harmful cycle.
