1) Washington DC's, Scythian (sith-ee-yin), belts out a high-energy, adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music with one goal in mind; to get people on their feet and dancing. These classically trained musicians are natural showmen who seamlessly blend kicked-up Celtic, folk and world music, and deliver it with a punk-rock sensibility. Combine this with the driving rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. In a single song, they transport an audience across the globe with the alluring and dramatic strains of gypsy fiddles, the bounce of a Celtic reel, and then cross back over the border to pick up a klezmer hook and some good old-fashioned bluegrass licks.
2) Scythian are a blackened death metal band from London, UK heavily influenced by Bathory, Sodom, Sarcofago, Venom and early extreme metal of the 80s and 90s. They’re an upcoming, newly signed act and recorded their debut album ‘To Those Who Stand Against Us’ in early 2008 with producer Leon Macey (also of UK death metallers MITHRAS) then inking a deal with Greek label, Necroterror in the same year. Although compliant with heavy metal tradition, Scythian are isolated from the trend and pursue a musical path that fuses all everything from thrash, black death and doom with archaic atmospheres, pagan ideals and warrior culture. Not for the weak hearted.
3) Black metal band from Perth, Western Australia reminscent to the sounds of old Mayhem, Emperor and Darkthrone, combined with the occasional influences of death metal, thrash metal and doom metal. The band was active between the years of 1996 - 2001, under various names prior to 1998, such as; Aetharius, etc. Scythian (AU) released one EP, which was freely handed out at a local metal gig entitled ‘Scythe Domination’. They managed to play four locals gigs before their split in 2001.

(Whiskey you're a devil and a thief)
You've taken all that is good away from me
(You've taken all that is good away from me)
Now all that's left for me is to sail the seven seas
(Now all that's left for me is to sail the seven seas)
Take back the things that belong to me
(And take back the things that belong to me)
Seven deadly sins on the seven seas
(Seven deadly sins on the seven seas)
Bring the prophet Jonah to his knees
(Bring the prophet Jonah to his knees)
Relentless as the hounds of a lover's jealousy
(Relentless as the hounds of a lover's jealousy)
Deaf as a hangman to my plea
(Deaf as a hangman to my plea)
Shame, shame, shame
Empty bottle, empty promise
Shame, shame, shame
Doomed to wander without solice
Shame, shame, shame
All that's left is head in hand
Shame, shame, shame
Doomed to wonder until the end
Whiskey you're a devil and a thief
(Whiskey you're a devil and a thief)
You've taken all that is good away from me
(You've taken all that is good away from me)
Now all that's left for me is to sail the seven seas
(Now all that's left for me is to sail the seven seas)
And take back the things that belong to me
(And take back the things that belong to me)
The song Whiskey by Scythian is a reflection on the destructive nature of drinking and its ability to take away what is good in life. The lyrics capture a lament about the negative consequences of drinking, with the personification of whiskey as the devil and thief that has taken everything away from the singer. The opening line sets the tone for the song and indicates the role that whiskey has played in the singer's life. The line "Whiskey you're a devil and a thief" is repeated twice to emphasize the destructive nature of drinking.
The next line "You've taken all that is good away from me" describes the impact of alcohol on the singer's life. The phrase suggests that the singer has lost something precious due to drinking. The following line "Now all that's left for me is to sail the seven seas" indicates the singer's desperation to regain what has been lost. The line implies that the singer is willing to go to great lengths to get back what has been taken away.
The next stanza talks about the seven deadly sins, which are a reference to the biblical concept of vice that can lead to spiritual death. The line "Bring the prophet Jonah to his knees" represents the singer's plea for help, but the following lines suggest that their pleading is falling on deaf ears. The repeated use of the phrase "shame, shame, shame" emphasizes the cyclical nature of addiction, and underscores the sense of helplessness that the singer is experiencing. In conclusion, the lyrics of Whiskey by Scythian convey a message of despair about the destructive impact of alcohol on a person's life.

A little tedious, especially where the vocal melody is concerned, but I love folk and the instrumentals were great and conveyed the tone well.
