Here We Go
Sean McConnell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, there's something in the water
A song that's in the air
Calling all the sons and daughters
From here to everywhere
It echoes like a melody
That you've always known
Like going home
So here we go
Seeing omens in the sky
I'm hearing ghosts
Telling me to read the signs
And maybe life's a dream and I'm asleep
Well, I don't know
So here we go, yeah
Here we go

There's a rattle in the attic
And a buzzing in my bones
There's a message in the static
Ringing like a megaphone
When I'm alone

So here we go
Seeing omens in the sky
I'm hearing ghosts
Telling me to read the signs
And maybe life's a dream and I'm asleep
Well, I don't know
So here we go, yeah
Here we go

Ooh, ooh, ooh

If I make it past the mountain
I'll try to tell you what I found
And if it's hard to hear me
Lay your head against the ground

Here we go
Seeing omens in the sky
I'm hearing ghosts
Telling me to read the signs
And maybe life's a dream and I'm asleep
Well, I don't know
So here we go

So here we go
Seeing omens in the sky
I'm hearing ghosts
Telling me to read the signs
And maybe life's a dream and I'm asleep
Well, I don't know
So here we go, yeah
Here we go

Here we go
Here we go

Overall Meaning

The song Here We Go by Sean McConnell is about the feeling of uncertainty and the journey to find answers. The first verse talks about a feeling that something is in the water and in the air, calling all sons and daughters from here to everywhere. It echoes like a melody that you've always known, like going home. This can be interpreted as a feeling of familiarity with something that is unknown, and a desire to follow it.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "here we go" several times, emphasizing a sense of momentum and movement towards something new. The second verse adds to the feeling of uncertainty with a rattle in the attic and a buzzing in the bones, suggesting a physical reaction to the unknown. The message in the static is ringing like a megaphone, but the only time the singer can hear it is when they are alone.

The bridge suggests that the journey may be difficult, but that the singer will try to tell others what they have found. If it's hard to hear, one should lay their head against the ground, implying a need to slow down and connect with the earth in order to understand.

Overall, the song expresses a mix of excitement and anxiety towards the unknown future, and a determination to explore it despite the challenges.
