3. A band from Tucson Arizona
1.Deeply moving and heavy on grandiose atmosphere, soaring vocals and crushing riffs, Season’s End’s debut album The Failing Light elegantly demonstrates that you need not travel to Scandinavia to find perfectly crafted symphonic metal. Having spent the last three years honing a sound that transcends the boundaries of gothic metal, this Hampshire based sextet have created an album that is both astoundingly fresh and incredibly mature; qualities that can be attributed to the band’s refusal to resort to tired clichés. “We always strive to stay true to ourselves when writing,” states lead vocalist Becki Clark, “we don’t deliberately try and conform to any stereotypes or conventions; we make the music that we’d like to hear”. It is this attitude that truly sets Season’s End apart in a genre that is all too often characterised by rigidly set formulae and has helped propel them into the collective consciousness of Britain’s burgeoning underground metal scene.
Innocence
Season's End Lyrics

Memories burn where they once shone.
The beauty of innocence,
Left forgotten in a dying day.
A kiss goodbye,
The past has faded away.
Love, inscribed deep in the wood,
Trying to stare through the mists of the future,
Erase the bliss that once was the past.
Promises passed your lips with ease,
Only to whither in time.
My heart lost in the mire,
Paint this face a shade of misery.
The lyrics to Season's End's song Innocence convey a melancholic sentiment, reflecting on a time that has passed and the innocence that has been lost. The opening lines paint a picture of a euphoric age that has died and left behind only memories, which now burn where they once shone. The beauty of innocence is highlighted but also lamented for being left forgotten in a dying day.
The nostalgic tone continues as the singer bids farewell to the past, which has faded away. A love that was once inscribed deep in the wood is now just a memory, and the words that were once romantic now seem to flow like blood. The lyrics suggest that the future is unclear and uncertain, and the singer tries to stare through the mists of what's to come in an attempt to erase the bliss that once was the past. Despite promises that were made, they withered in time, leaving behind a heart lost in the mire and painting a face with the shade of misery.

It's a shame that this band is still relatively unknown :( . Very similar stylistically to Avrigus, which is most definitely a good thing! :)

Brilliant blend of Gothic and Heavy Metal. Some similarirty to the first Nightwish music. Watch their concert, 'End of an Era' and see if you agree.
