I always interpret this song as a conversational exchange between two combative personalities of the same individual. A version that the person wants and wishes they could be. And another who is battling depression and self-hate that frequently triumphs. Just my own interpretation.

Yes! My perspective of this song is from a narcissistic abuse survivor's. I finally realized all the abuse after seven years of constant abuse, gaslighting, stonewalling, being belittled and put down everyday, suffering from the trauma bond. His broken mind, nothing in his eyes, his words as weapons, keeping me guessing and terrified and paralyzed, trying to swim in his fable, and that he is not the saint he externalizes. It is GREAT for healing. I will pass it along to other narc abuse survivors. <3

I love this song. There's too many terrified people who hurt others with words. I'm not terrified. I always want to say something beautiful. But I'm a quiet person. Socially broken. I had to stop being hurt with words. I can't the pain. I feel that pain I had before. All the pain returns. Safer to stay away from the terrified. Their pain I feel.
