69 Tea
Seether (feat. Amy Lee) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lonely in this white room, there are pads everywhere
Chafing straitjacket, I won't die in there
Save me smiling Jesus, get off that cross
Hate me screaming masses
I don't care if I'm lost
Don't tell me that you're all better
I don't care if you are Don't tell me that you're trendsetters
I don't care if you are

Lowly with my head bowed, there are rats everywhere
Feed me bread and water
I won't die in there
Save me smiling Jesus, get off that cross
Hate me screaming masses
I don't care if I'm lost

Don't tell me that you're all better
I don't care if you are Don't tell me that you're trendsetters
I don't care if you are

Say you will take my pills
Say you will faking ill

Don't tell me that you're all better
I don't care if you are Don't tell me that you're bed wetters
I don't care if you are
Say you will take my pills
Say you will faking ill

Say you will (say you will) take my pills (take my pills)
Say you will (say you will) faking ill

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Seether's "69 Tea" paint a picture of a lonely and distressed individual trapped in a white room with pads everywhere and wearing a chafing straitjacket. The singer pleads with "smiling Jesus" to get off the cross and save them from the screaming masses, who may be the cause of their distress. Despite being surrounded by rats and surviving on just bread and water, the singer does not want to be told that others are better or trendsetters, implying a possible sense of envy or resentment towards those perceived as successful.

The final stanza of the song takes a different tone, with the singer asking someone to take their pills and fake an illness. The repetition of the line "Say you will" emphasizes the urgency of this request, possibly indicating a desire to escape the situation they find themselves in, whether it be physical or mental.

Overall, the lyrics of "69 Tea" seem to convey a sense of helplessness, desperation, and alienation, highlighting the struggles of those dealing with mental health issues.

I absolutely love the music and the people of Seether. I'm 61 years old and just now getting to know the music. I was too busy when they first came out raising two kids and working a full-time job. I knew a couple of their songs but that's about it. I'm so glad I found them a couple years ago. They've actually made my life a little more enjoyable. I'm still finding out things about them and different songs I haven't heard yet. What a great ride. Thank you Seether for staying together long enough for me to find you. Rock on guys!

Never too late to find great music and embrace it. I've been late to the game on a bunch of great music.
